Subject: Is inthe00s message board slowing down??

Written By: Arcfire on 05/11/03 at 09:52 p.m.

Is it just me or does it seem like we are loosing people or is the message bases too diverse? Last year when I first joined I can remember logging off say at 11pm and if I was the last one to post on a thread it would allready be on page 2 the next morning  ::)  Today the pre 70s and 70s boards are moving ultra slow. Only the 80s and the game show boards seem to be doing really well. (dont get me wrong every base has its moments, the 2000 seems to be going again with the  advent of the slim shady/wierd al debate. There are alot of old regulars missing too  :'( what happened?

My guess is that it is the beginning of a seasonal slowdown.

It always quiets down a bit around here during the summer.  Most of us in the States have had a long, cold winter, and now that warm weather is here we are taking advantage of it and going outside.

I also know several regulars live in "tornado alley" and are being plagued by dangerous storms.  Some of them, while happily escaping the actual storms may lose electricity or phone service for hours or even days at a time.

I wouldn't worry too much.  This place will get busy enough in time.  :)

I agree with Kat on this one.....every time this year it gets slow.  I for one don't check in as much anymore...just too much to do outside!

This fall we will be back to normal...as normal as we can be!! ;D

I've been hanging here since September last year and have seen some slower cycles.  I could definatley understand a less active time happening with the coming of spring, I know I'm a bit busier in the outside world with more daylight and warmer weather.

Like the others said, it usually just gets slower here in the summer.  I know I for one am outside a lot more rather than being on the computer; also I have a lot of stuff going on for school at the moment.

Like everyone else said (just call me broken record ;)) it gets slow every year when it gets warm.  Nothing to worry about.

I have been here since November 21st,2001 and it used to be so busy but now,I think it's slowing down on the 70's and 90's board.

Sorry guys I agree with Howard, we are missing some of last years major posters... I hope its not "the old grey mare aint what she used to be" I wouldnt be suprised if the lurkers drove some of them off.

I have also noticed our moderators are nare to be seen anymore, HS seems to check in every 3 days or so and Chucky about once or twice a week. All I can say is I hope we pick up again soon! :'(

I've been sticking to the Lyrics board primarily.. I still scan the other ones, but for the most part I never post in them. This is my week off before classes start up again, so I'm mostly outside or tying up lose ends. I also have a potential contracting position lined up, though the more I talk about it, the less likely I am to get it >grin<

Summers are always slow though. Always have been, school's out, and people are on vacations, etc. This June will mark year #8 for the site, and year #4 or #5 I think for a messageboard, and I've observed the same slow down every year.

Plus if it's gorgeous outside, I prefer to be outside, plenty of nasty weather this year to keep me inside when it's not nice out.

Doesn't matter.  Old mare, new mare, major poster, minor poster...it's nice seeing new blood around here (I'm fairly new, myself).

As to the lurkers...I doubt a few lurkers are going to chase any of the hardcore away from here.  Heck, more feelings are hurt, delicate sensibilities offended and toes stomped-on by registered members.  I think the anonnymity takes some of the sting out of said stomping...or not.
