Anything that is comfortable and still looks semi-fashionable.
Right now, I'm wearing a pair of white Guess shoes. Those sweatshop kids are really good at their craft 8)
I also own a couple of Ralph Lauren and Tommy Hillfigger shoes. Um, old GBX leather boots with buckles and another pair of boots that I forgot the brand to... they are really nice. I'm not too keen on Docs. I used to have regular Army boots and those did the job juuuust fine. Too many kids wear Docs (I also hate Sketchers!).
Now, if I could only save up to buy those Hermes orange and blue tennis shoes. THOSE would look really nice :)

Casual - Cream Diesel Shoes, Baby-Blue Dunlop 'Green Flag' pumps
Work/Sport - Adidas Superstar/Shell Toes (red stripes)
Going out - Strappy shoes from Faith or Flat Courts from Jones - The Bootmaker
Summertime - I have many flip flops/sandals! My fav 2: baby-blue with two horizontal straps with white and blue small beads, and baby-pink thong flat sandals with 3 little glittery butterflys on them! (I sound like such a girly-girl!!!)

Nike gets my vote. I have never worn athletic shoes as comfortable as Nike. My joggers, cross-trainers, golf shoes, baseball cleats and gym shoes are all Nike.
For dress shoes I have the basic "guy" shoes...I pair brown, 1 pair black...no idea about the brand.
I also have a pair of Transit sandals I live in in summer...they are SO comfortable...
Oh yeah, 1 pair of grey snakeskin cowboy boots...

For me, there are only a select few shoes that I deem absolutely necessary:
Basketball: Reebok I-3
Walking/Random Crap: Vans or Airwalks
Dress: I use my pop's shoes, he's the same size
Hockey: Bauer hockey skates
No sandals for me, thank you ;)

Work - Caterpillar 3/4 length, steel toe work boots
Casual - Fubu (Wallaby-type shoes), Sketchers Raider boots, Johnston & Murphy leather sandals, plain blue Vans sneakers.

I'm a Reebok man. Best shos I've ever owned, and I really wear out shoes fast. None have ever lasted longer than Reebok.

There is nothing wrong with this. You cannot have too many shoes. ;)
My favorite shoes right now are a pair of sandals/slides, they are strapless with wedge 1 and half inch heels. SOOOO comfortable, and they give me a boost of height, desperately needed as I stand at 5'3" ::)
I also have couple of others that I wear often: a pair of strappy sandals that will come in handy now and running shoes, Reebok. I dont' wear the 'boks often because it is professional dress where I work (grrrr) . I have too many shoes in my closet...but hey, shoes are a vital part of a woman's life. LOL

My favorite brand is Hush Puppies. They are comfortable, and last a long time.
They are also a wee bit out of my budget these days...so I have been wearing mostly Payless Shoes brand.

Those are great...my old roommate had a pair, he let me try them out and I really flew. When I finally have money I think I'll invest in a pair myself. I do like Bauer though, they're very comfy and mold to my foot pretty well.

i have wide feet. i also have flat feet. the only brand of shoes i've found that fit me really well are vans. they're extremely comfortable and last a really long time.
i also have a pair of adidas flip flops. some people say the massagers hurt their feet, but i wear socks with mine. 8) (i refuse to go anywhere without socks, i won't even walk in my own house with no socks on. :o )

New Balance-without a doubt. I wear them everyday and they have lasted forever-7-8 years or so-I am not kidding. For a dressier shoe-Hush Puppy.

I've been using Bauer ever since I was a kid, but this winter a buddy of mine was able to get me a pair of CCMs that had "fallen off the truck". I ended up paying about a third of the regular price, and i'll tell ya, i've never had a more comfortable and fast skate.

Any type of skater shoe is fine, but specifically I like Vans. They're just so soft and nice... :)

Well I'm more of a boots woman myself ! ;D Infact that was my nickname at work years ago when I lived in the same pair of cowboy boots for months on end.I have 3 pairs of Doc Martins(Tartan,Paisley and black !) but my 2 favourite pairs are a black chunky heel knee high lace up pair and a long leopard print pair.

I like Clarkes or K skippers which are really nice and comfy.

Me too Howard, but I had to toss them b/c they made my feet smell something awful...and I've never had smelly feet before...
I didn't think to include skates in my original post so I will add:
Rollerhockey skates: CCM SuperTacks
Ice hockey skates: Bauer Supreme 150's (I got 'em from Santa and I looooooove them!! They are sooooooo comfy and light! More so than my SuperTacks...and I never thought that would happen!)

Dress shoes: Kenneth Coles-square toe (burgundy), "J-crew" (no lace) square toe dress shoes(black).
Banana Republic dress shoes (brown). Black dress (lace-up) shoes.
Casual shoes: Banana Republic (brown).
Hanging out: Timberlands chuckas(construction boot yellow),and Hiking Timberland boots (yellow and black).

I Love Reebok too.I find theyre really comfortable and they fit my feet well.
BUT I also have an old pair of AIR Nike basketball sneakers.Theyre orange.Flourescent.Sooo comfortable:)
THose are the hang around shoes.
And flip flops,anything if dirt or mud gets in it while I am gardening I can just rinse off.
My good shoes and boots.....oooooooo all kinds I get em on sale at department stores a lot.Problem is I take one of the most popular sizes..8M.I dont buy really trendy stuff though so I can keep it for years.
A woman can never have too many shoes ;D

I own a pair of Timberlands, a pair of Pods, some cheap trainers for messing around in (Umbro) and a pair of Nike sandals for the sunnier days.

The best pair of boots I had were Rockports. Unfortunately, When I got pregnant with my 3rd son, my feet grew and they were passed down to my SIL's :( Oh, and they don't make that particular style anymore. Got them for 70% off at the Rockport outlet store. ;)
I have an extremely high, but misplaced arch (it's more towards the back of my foot rather than closer to the front), really skinny feet, and an extra bone near my big toe on my left foot that makes finding shoes an adventure.
Anyway...I don't really have favorite brands, I just buy what fits (and is on sale ;). I do have to say, though, I have quite a few pairs of Naturalizer (not granny-style, though) dress shoes/sandals that fit quite well. For sport, Nike or New Balance.
