Subject: Summer 'Anthems'

Written By: Junior on 05/25/03 at 05:36 p.m.

Now that summer has rolled around, I'm making a CD full of songs that are typically associated with the summer, partying, and stuff like that. As of right now, I plan on adding a couple surf-style songs, Nelly "Hot In Herre" (of course ;) ), a couple songs from the "Grease" movie soundtrack, and other songs like that.
Anyways, just wondering...does anyone have any suggestions for summer/party/etc. "anthems" that I can add to my CD? I finally got a CD player with mp3 CD capabilities, so I can store A LOT of songs on here. ;) :D

*edited because a CD and a CD player are not the same thing. Also, if anyone cares, the CD player is not working now, just my luck... ::) >:(

Well, you mentioned The Grease Soundtrack, so I assume you have "Summer Nights" already.  Here are some songs I thought of

"Fight For Your Right"--Beastie Boys
"Get the Party Started"--Pink
"Pump Up the Jam"--Technotronic
"School's Out"--Alice Cooper
"Party all the Time"--Eddie Murphy (so, I'm not thinking of very good ones tonight)

I will come back if I think of some more.

ETA, for some reason, I think Santana's "Smooth", "Maria Maria", "Oye Como Va" and "The Game of Love" are summery-sounding (does that sound right?).

ETA again--"Summertime" by the Fresh Prince and DJ Jazzy Jeff.

thats not even half the intensity of the problems that Ive had with this guy....he is basicly ignorant to anymusic that was made before he was 13 years old........in fact he is ignorant to any music that isnt like techno or nu-metal or pop punk or rap (from 1995 on) or other crap like that...in fact, hes just ignorant.....

I had to explain to him that the Verve sampled the Rolling Stone's "the Last time" in their "Bittersweet symphony" (with no disrespect to this song, it is amazing)..he then responded with the completely ignorant line "I dont think that any of those old foggys should get credit for their song, Im glad that the Verve ripped them off"...this is when I had to be restrained from hitting him with my broken 8-track player lol......he has made many many other completly ignorant remarks over the years, and not just to music, to everything in life (and not ignorant in hes stupid, just ignorant that he has no understanding of the way things are and that you cant have the new without the old and all of that..this is why I dont talk to him anymore)...I just saw him on Friday and he made another really stupid statement about music....we were listening to some Bob Marley regae and one of my friends suggested Led Zeppelins "Dyer maker"....this guy then said "No way, I aint listening to that Hippie crap music from the 50s...".......again I had to be restrained    :P ::)

anyway, i dont mean to go off topic either...ll try and think of some more too
