My response is the same as the first time I saw it:

"Tootsie" is number two?

Auntie Mame is good...and funny.  A boy is raised by his lunatic aunt after being orphaned.  I loved it to pieces, and my daugher, who does not like movies with "real people" likes it too.  She does't understand half the jokes, though.  :D

If you have the chance to pick up the novel, get that too.  The movie sticks fairly close to the novel, but like all book adaptations there are a few scenes left out.

Well worth the rental price. :)

Does it strike anyone else as strange that #'s 1 and 2 on the list both have cross-dressing males as the central characters? Who compiled this list? (I know it was AFI but.......) I mean come on.......Animal House #36? The Jerk #89? National Lampoon's Vacation not even on the list? You're right BF, a great list........ but more than a few questionable entries, orders, and omittions.

2 TOOTSIE 1982 - Good movie, but I don't think it should be #2.

3 DR. STRANGELOVE OR: HOW I LEARNED TO STOP WORRYING AND LOVE THE BOMB 1964 - Should have been #1.  Great movie.

10 AIRPLANE! 1980 - Ok, I agree this is a top 10.

13 YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN 1974 - 13?  No, should be top 10

31 RAISING ARIZONA 1987 - Great movie!

36 NATIONAL LAMPOON'S ANIMAL HOUSE 1978 - Should have ranked higher

74 9 TO 5 1980 - I loved this movie, but don't really think it should bein in the top 100

I haven't seen most of those movies, so I can't be too sure of the ranking.  I know there were alot of movies left off.  Like Rice said, where is Naked Gun.

And how about Reuben and Ed?  Has anyone else seen this movie.  Crispin Glover and Howard Hessman are the stars.  This is a funny funny movie.

98 THE COURT JESTER 1956

"Singin' in the Rain" is truly 1 of the greatest movies ever, partly because it includes some of the greatest comedy.  It is 1 of the funniest I've ever seen!  I was very happy it got such recognition - not just for being a musical.  (Of course, just about all then were called "musical COMEDIES" - and SITR is killer!)

BUT I was dismayed they had "Court Jester" sooooo low!  Guess I should be grateful it's there at all - but I'd rate it #1!  Come on, it's HYSTERICAL!

"9 to 5" also should be higher - it's also hysterical!  I can hardly breathe w/these movies!

And 1 that should be on the list - "Out-of-Towners"!  It could have been better quality, but the real-life Murphy's Law theme was great!  Way underrated, always.  "Ya chased a dog and ya beat a horse - you're stronger than ya think!!!"
