If I knew then what I know now? Well for starters I would have taken a nice long vacation when I was about 22 - someplace warm with a nice sandy beach and a certain hot young man that I would seduce.... :P

And joining a cleft pallet support group. So I wouldn't have ended up as an outcast.

For one thing, I would never have married my ex....

And knowing what I know now?  Hmm.

I would have started college sooner.
I would have traveled more when I was single and had the money.

And I would have made a real effort to meet the sweet prince of my dreams while there was still time to do so.

If I went back in time...(September 2001) I would've tried to beg for forgiveness with my ex-girlfriend many times to try to get her back into my life. And ask her,"How can we make this relationship work again"?

I would probably go to 5th grade and have stopped myself from staying out for an extra hour with my friends, and getting punished for the rest of the school year, that cost me the opitunity to meet so many new people that I didn't get a chance to meet until high school, but couldv'e met then if I wasn't punished...

The thing is if you went back and changed something then other things that happened since then may not have happened.

For example in my case I often wonder what would have happened in my life if I'd stuck to my studying at school.  Then I might have gone away to Uni and have a completely different job (probably better paid) to what I am doing now.

BUT

I wouldn't have met my husband (because he came here to my home town to Uni which is where we met) and so I wouldn't have my two adorable children. And I probably wouldn't have found this place if I hadn't been bored at work!

So changing one thing often has consequences you might not have thought about.

I was on holiday in Belgium last year and we visited Bruges. That town is beautiful and I really enjoyed going there. There are lots of chocolate shops and I only went to one or two. I'd love to turn back time and visit the others. I'm a real chocolate lover.

Hmm... If I could turn back time? If I could find a way, I'd take back those words that have hurt you and you'd stay

Hey you know there might be a song in that ;-)

If I had a time machine, a good idea would probably to be to go back to around the time I started getting really lazy (around sixth grade) and do something to get myself motivated.  But I probably wouldn't get around to it.

if i could go back in time, i would have hinted to my parents that the dentist was right and i needed braces waaaaay before i actually got my braces...

and i probably would have remembered how to stop a snowboard.  but then again, if i had remembered how to stop, i would have had to take gym class all year...

wouldn't have lost contact with someone who i thought was one of my best friends...

and probably have not worn those socks i wore in fifth grade. :-[

It made a lot of people a lot of money.  I would go back to 92 and convince MTV the Real World is a bad idea.  Start at the source.

This is interesting, but could I humbly propose that you put to small a limit on time travel?  You restrict it to to our own lives.  What about unlimited time traven?  What would you change in history, and to what end?  Suppose, for example, that Napolean won the Battle of Waterloo?  Or suppopse that John Wilks Booth missed?  Or that Santa Anna had won the Battle of San Jacinto?  The counterfactual possibilities are endless, and the speculation could be quite fun. Just a though ;D  ;D Hope you don';t mind  ;)

Don Carlos. Could you confirm something for me (you mentioned certain historical scenarios). My friend at work told me today that the Americans beat the British in their battle for independence because the British got too casual and decided to go in for the attack the next day after a rest. However, there was a fog or something and this allowed the Americans to give a signal for more boats (?) allowing them to win the war.

Also, I heard that America was so close to having nuclear war with Russia because somebody pressed the wrong button.

I do not want this political aspect of the thread to go on for longer than neccessary. LOL.  ;D It is my way of saying that a lot of pivotal things that have happened in history could so easily have gone in a different direction and had far reaching consequences.

Sorry, I can't confirm or deny either of these.  I can say that at Yorktown Cornwallis was a bit complacent, but so was the British fleet at New York, which failed to respond to the absence of the French Fleet in the Caribbean until it was too late.  The French were able to block the Chesapeake, while Washington and the French were able to cut him off on the penninsula.

As to the "wrong Button", I have no idea.

End of today's history lesson  ;D

I can be unreliable too.  One evening one of my kids asked me what the most expensive fur was.  I said "abilonie" without missing a beat.  After a few minutes one said "Dad, isnt that a shellfish?"  "Yes" I said, "that's why its fur is so expensive".  ;)

It got to the point that they never believed me straigh off. ;D

I would go back to 1996 and know better than to have anything to do with now my ex husband.  I would have ran as far as I could have the first time I met him.

If I could go back a little further...then to 1989, and given one last chance to talk to my grandfather, maybe something I could have said or done could have changed that horrible October morning
