Hmm... not surprised in a way, though I do know nothing at all about a lot of it, but D&D/Roleplaying history counted against me; and my job only helps increase geekiness :-)

My low geek level relates directly with my lack of interest in science fictiin and fantasy. Never got into that stuff.
I do remember the geeks of the early 80s loving dungeons and dragons, solving the rubiks cubes, and going nuts with the new star trek.

Here's my score:

10.84813% - Geekish Tendencies

Lucky they didn't also ask about my ABD  ;D

To get a bit serious, even though this is the PPP, I need to question why being smart, informed, committed in a field makes one a geek?  To me, this is one of the major problems we face in the U.S. - a pervasive anti-intellectual attidude.  We project it onto our kids, discouraging them from learning because they get the idea that it is somehow "cool" to be ingorant.  I scored low on this because I'm not into the sciences, not because I'm not VERY well versed and VERY well read in my field (history, Latin America).

I can appreciate the humor of this, and certainly don't want to suggest that the opinions of people less educated than me are of less value than mine, I do think that, if we do support the concept of "No Child Left Behind" than we need to foster an attitude that supports intellectual development, and stop disparaging those who pursue it as "nerds".  I know this is just a silly, fun thread, which is why I took the test.  Maybe someone would like to start a 2000's thread around this issue.

"nuff said.  Back to the silliness  ;D
