Just curious as to what your favorite cats & dogs are.
For me it's:

cat-manx or abyssinian (or a mixture of both)
dog-anything in the spitz family  :)

I like most cats (especially my 3  ;D) As for dogs, I have also liked labs. Hate poodles. I think they are obnoxious (my appoligies to anyone who owns one)

I have discovered the cat's/dog's favorite toy/food: cicadas.
They are buzzing all over the place and the cats love em even more than mice!  The other day, my kitten was fixing to play with one, but then the dog heard the cicada buzzing and went over and ate it.  The cat was so mad I was cracking up!!!  :D

My cats (especially the baby) loves these mice that I bought. They look almost real but not. They must have catnip in them. I have three but who knows where they are now (under the refrige? couch? stereo?) But, when she can't find those, her favor toy is a wadded up piece of paper or my razor that she steals from the bathtub. I also once bought a catbed (that I still have) and they prefer a cardboard box. You spend all this money on toys and they prefer stuff that is lying around (sometimes not. She has been known to go into the trash to get used Q-tips). I just don't get it.

I have little stuffed animals that are supposed to be like the ones from "Babe."  There's a pig, a couple mice, and some ducks.  Well, when no-one is looking, my abyssinian takes one out from its basket and plays with it until it's *dead.* Then she sings her little victory song until somebody comes to see what she did.   :)

My old cat has a green ball (that my mother made) that she carries around with her and "yowls" as she does. That is her "kill." Yes, she "kills" that thing almost every day. I would much rather have her kill that then something that walks or flies and then brings them to me as "gifts".  I can handle it when she brings me the green ball.

Cats: any run of the mill moggy.  Don't like very short-haired ones such as Devon or Cornish Rex.

Dogs: hate ankle nippers, love sensible sized dogs such as labradors, retrievers and such.

Don't own either at the moment but have had pet cats before.  The road we live on is way too busy to consider having a cat.

We both work full-time so, IMHO, a dog is out of the question.  I think they need company throughout the day.

I agree: Far too many times have their been mice, bird, or gopher guts found in the garage.  :-X
Surprisingly, none of the cats have tried to eat my goldfish. They just want me to feed them the fish's food, and one time I caught my manx just drinking the water out of the bowl.  :P

Our first cat was fascinated by our tropical fish.  It was like television for him.  He would sit on the arm of the sofa and stare at the tank for ages.  Every once in a while one of the bigger fish would catch his eye and he'd lean forward and then put his paws onto the tank.  If the fish swam away he'd try and follow it , more often than not end up falling off the sofa in the process.

Cats:  No breed preference.  Any sweet, non destructive cat would do nicely.

Dogs:  Any Toy Breed.  Not particularly fond of the larger breeds.

I like little dogs too. I'm hoping I can get a pomeranian or a Scottish terrier.
And after watching the movie "Ringu", I was somewhat inspired to get a little black lhasa apso and name it "Sadako."   :D

One day (years ago), I was watching figure skating on t.v. Oksana Baiul came on. My cat (who is no longer with us  :'() got off the couch where he was sitting, ran over to the t.v. (a console that sits on the floor) and just watched very intensely. When she was done skating, he walked away. I never understood it. Did he like Oksana Baiul? Personally, I think it was her costume that kind of glittered that attracted his attention.

Dogs - English Cocker Spaniels (we have a 6 month old black girl that goes by the name Jasmine Ebony Joy!!) don't ask!!
When I was a kid we always owned Whippets or Cattle dogs.

Cats - like em but husband hates them.  Why is it that you can never convince a cat-hater that they are real personality pets and can be great companions??

Cheers  :)

For some reason this reminded me of the other day when I was listening to "Blackbird" on the computer and I had a cat on my lap.  It got to the part where the bird was chirping in the background and the cat's ears shot straight up and he started sniffing the speakers.  ;D
