Madonna (80's) - Best

Madonna (90s) - Stopped paying attention to Madonna after Like A Prayer although Taka A Bow is a good song, IMO.

Madonna (00's) - Nil

Michael Jackson (70s and 80s) - Best.  never owned an album but his music was infectious.

Michael Jackson (90s and 00s) - Eh...uh, anti-climax?

Prince - Allaround okeedokee.

Rod Stewart - Never got into Rod Stewart.

Tom Jones - Never got into Tom Jones...isn't he a crooner like Barry White?

Beatles - Never cared for the Beatles...dunno why...

Beach Boys - Never caught the wave...

Monkees - Used to watch the show as a kid...never took their music seriously.

Bangles - I like.  Always a pleasure to throw on a Bangles CD and, just as an aside, Susannah Hoffs absolutely, positively gorgeous

Go Go's - Never cared for them.  Overrated.

Belinda Carlisle - Her solo stuff...ehh.  Did she ever release another single after "Mad About You"?  I never noticed.

Cyndi Lauper - Nostalgia value only.  Period.

Police - Now, that's what I'm talkin'bout!

Sting - The Stinger is good to go.  1/4 of the Police.

Savage Garden - They had a great piece of pop candy out a couple of years back.  Easy on the ears but makes my teeth hurt.

Darren Hayes - Aha!  I know this name because my ex made me download and burn all of his songs.  Blaaagh!  No likey Mr. Hayes.

REM - I was hooked back in the late 80s/early 90s.  Haven't followed them much, since then.

The Smiths - Never got into the Smiths.

Morrissey - See above.

The Clash - Their radio-friendly stuff rocks!  Never got into the punk scene.

The Jam - I should probably know some of their songs...

The Style Council - I know I've heard their music, but it escapes me.

Paul Wellar - Never even heard of him.

Radiohead - I made a blind purchase one day and picked-up OK Computer...it left me wanting...

Blur - Never listened to them.

Oasis - Likewise here...

Britney Spears - Nope.

Christina Aguilera - Nah.

Justin Timberlake - Nein.

Nsync - Non.

Backstreet Boys - I do like "I Want It That Way" and that's it.

Take That - They had one good song; Back For Good.

Ace of Base - Never cared for them.

Bananarama - They have a number of cool little tunes.  Mostly nostalgia value.

The Cardigans - Nope.

Kylie Minogue - Nice bum.

Squeeze - Two words...hell yeah!

New Order - Definately!  I'm on the verge of buying their boxed set.

Depeche Mode - Have a number of great songs.

The Cure - Likewise, here, but I never owned any of their albums.

Yaz/oo - Ohhh yessss.  I love Allison Moyet's voice!

Eurythmics - Nostalgia value.  Music is mediocre.

Erasure - You say Erasure, I say hell yes!

Berlin - Uh, they did that song in Top Gun. Good movie.

Incubus - Never heard of their music.

Creed - A few catchy songs here and there.  I wouldn't consider myself a fan.

Third Eye Blind - Good 90s rock stuff.

Goo Goo Dolls - Ehh...a good song here and there.  No big deal.

Lifehouse - Never hoid of 'em...

Duran Duran - I'm there!

Spandau Ballet - Uh...they did "True" in the 80s.  That's about it for me.

Aaliyah - "Back and Forth".  Groovy tune.

Blink 182 - Never heard their music...I think.

Sum 41 - Never heard of 'em.

A New Found Glory - Ditto.

Placebo - Ditto again.

Blondie - OVERRATED.

Crowded House - A personal favorite.  Split Enz, too.

Madonna (80's)  Pretty good.  Back when she still remembered what a catchy tune was.

Madonna (90s)  A few highlights here and there, but for the most part, total crap.

Madonna (00's)  "Don't Tell Me" is one of the best songs she's ever released.  Other than that, horrible.  Why do we keep letting this woman publicly embarrass herself?

Michael Jackson (70s and 80s) Hey, hey now.  Let's not lump in his breathtaking, wonderful 70's work with his dreadfully overrated work in the 80's.

Michael Jackson (90s and 00s) These you can lump together, because they're both terrible

Prince So much better than MJ it's not even funny

Rod Stewart A man has never so thoroughly flushed his talent down the crapper like this man.  Good up until "D'Ya Think I'm Sexy" or "Hot Legs," whichever came first.

Tom Jones No thank you

Beatles The reason they're this loved is because few bands dared to take as many chances while keeping their pop sensibility.  "Greatest band of all time" for good reason.

Beach Boys Yes indeed they're awesome!

Monkees They had a few good tunes here and there

Bangles Not particularly great, but pretty good

Go Go's See:  Bangles

Belinda Carlisle A bit too overproduced for my liking

Cyndi Lauper "Time After Time" is a truly great song, and I could take or leave the rest of her catalog

Police What's really cool about the Police is how good they were at EVERYTHING they did.  Andy Summers is considered the world's greatest rhythm guitarist, Stewart Copeland one of the greatest drummers, Sting one of the greatest bassists, singers, and songwriters

Sting But Sting's problem is, he completely misunderstands what is good about his music.   He thinks it's all about literary pretensions and jazz influences, and no one cares about that, they want catchy melodies and cool basslines

Savage Garden Sickly sweet garbage

Darren Hayes See:  Savage Garden

REM Undoubtedly classic.  Too many bands want to be them

The Smiths I think they're good enough.  A bit overrated, though

Morrissey Morrissey has a stupid haircut

The Clash Total, undeniable classic

The Jam One of the best things to come out of the UK punk scene

The Style Council Kick out the Style.  Bring back the Jam.

Paul Wellar It's "Weller."

Radiohead Pretty good, I guess.  Until they collapsed under their own pretensions and started releasing all that "experimental" crap.

Blur Much more interesting than Oasis

Oasis Best songs are far better than Blur's

Britney Spears has the absolute worst singing voice I've ever heard

Christina Aguilera has the absolute worst hair I've ever seen

Justin Timberlake is a stupid-looking pube-headed eunuch

Nsync "Pop" is an incredibly deluded song

Backstreet Boys "Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely" is a terrible song title

Take That Never heard them

Ace of Base Didn't like Abba, don't like these guys either

Bananarama Pretty catchy stuff if you don't mind the horribly dated production

The Cardigans Download their cover of "The Boys Are Back in Town!"

Kylie Minogue Without a doubt my favorite current pop star

Squeeze I have enormous respect for them as pop songwriters

New Order Can't go wrong with New Order

Depeche Mode I truly loathe Depeche Mode.  Stupid droning tuneless dirges with horrible lyrics and mopey vocals and god this band is crap

The Cure Much more of a fan of pop-Cure than goth-Cure

Yaz/oo Don't know em

Eurythmics Probably the best synth-pop group ever

Erasure Liked "Chains of Love;" "A Little Respect" left me cold

Berlin Berlin is emblematic of the overuse of synthesizers that ruined the 80's

Incubus "Pardon Me" was good.  Every subsequent single has been duller than the last

Creed Everyone involved with the rise of this completely awful band should be ashamed.  I have no desire to listen to a pompous, ego-blinded frontman with a messiah complex moan out ode after ode to himself.

Third Eye Blind They write catchy enough music, and, as with many other similar bands, I will not miss them when they are gone

Goo Goo Dolls I wish I could write lyrics like Johnny Rzeznik.  I could get so many girls

Lifehouse A mostly uninteresting band.  I like "Spin" though

Duran Duran One of the best things about the 80's!

Spandau Ballet I liked "True"

Aaliyah One of the more talented r&b divas of the 90's.  Far more interesting than her idol, Janet Jackson

Blink 182 I think it's pretty pathetic for guys pushing thirty to still write songs about being horny retards and "first dates."

Sum 41 Disgusting calculated by a record company marketing department, and much better than Blink

A New Found Glory Nameless melodic punk group.  Next

Placebo Heard one song by them.  It annoyed me

Blondie Overrated, yes, but they still have many good points

Crowded House They've written more than a few classics, so I'll give them a thumbs up

David Bowie (60s and 70s) A god

David Bowie (80s onwards) "Modern Love" I liked, could take or leave the rest

The Supremes The Supremes are great and don't let anyone tell you otherwise

Marvin Gaye Aw yeah

Elton John One of my idols

Elvis Costello Superb songwriter

Joe Jackson Pretty good songwriter

No Doubt The Blondie of the late 90's/00's.  Also, look how effortlessly Gwen made the transition from rocker girl to pop diva, and look how badly Jewel and Liz Phair are stumbling in their attempts to follow her

Phil Collins Needs a good kick in the face

Red Hot Chili Peppers They rock

Stranglers Don't know em

The Cars If I have a band, and it turns out to be any good, it will probably sound like the Cars

The Coral ???

Wham! I don't think I ever quite got it

Next time, a smaller list might be appropriate.

Madonna (80's) Fantastic and fun pop

Madonna (90s) OK in parts. 'Vogue', 'Take A Bow' , 'Sky Fits Heaven', 'Secret' and ' Human Nature' are highlights for me

Madonna (00's) 'Don't Tell Me' is the only good song she's done.

Michael Jackson (70s and 80s) Fantastic, timeless classics (well, most of the singles)

Michael Jackson (90s and 00s) Err, not so good

Prince  - Never liked his songs, never liked the guy

Rod Stewart - Ditto, beacuse I just don't care for his voice

Tom Jones -  Never cared for

Beatles -  Overrated IMO. Made good songs, not my thing yet I give them credit for being influential :)

Beach Boys - Some good songs

Monkees - A couple of good songs

Bangles - Good band, love Susanah Hoffs voice

Go Go's - I don't know why but I love this band!!

Belinda Carlisle - Did a couple of good songs as a solo artists. 'In Too Deep' is a highlight for me.

Cyndi Lauper - I like her. 'Time after Time' - beautiful song. 'I Drove All Night' - good cover

Police - Great stuff.

Sting - Err, now and again he comes up with a good song.

Savage Garden - I kinda like 'em too. Not everything they've done, mind.

Darren Hayes - 'Strange Realtionship' is a great song.

REM - Fantastic.

The Smiths - Favourite band.

Morrissey - A few good songs, some are pretty bad though. My god - I can't belive I admitted to that!! I love your 'Smiths' lyrics though!!

The Clash - Fantastic.

The Jam - See above

The Style Council - Only like 2 of their songs

Paul WellEr - Only adore 'You Do Something To Me' - beautiful

Radiohead - Good pre-Kid A. 'The Bends' is fantastic.

Blur - Great.

Oasis - Good, prefered Blur on teh whole yet some Oasis songs just stand out so much! Such as 'Some Might Say' and 'Don't Look Back In Anger'

Britney Spears - Erghhh. Makes good 'pop' erghh. Kinda like 'Overprotective' though, only beacuse I can credit it for just being a good pop song.

Christina Aguilera - Don't mind as much, even though I hate her image and the way she portrays herself. 'Fighter' was a good song.

Justin Timberlake - Gorgeous  :-* Good dancy pop songs.

Nsync - Hmm, liked them in my 'boy band' phase. Only really like 'No Good For Me' beacuse it brings back memories of my last year of school.

Backstreet Boys - Better than Nsync in general. Have good (well, for pop songs) album tracks to back up their singles.

Take That - Was never a fan back in the day. Do like 'Back For Good', 'Relight My Fire' and 'Never Forget' now.

Ace of Base -  The first album I bought was their debut in '94. Hold a soft spot for that album and those songs. Second album stuff wasn't very good at all.

Bananarama - They can't sing! Catchy as hell though, my highlight is 'Robert De Niro's Waiting' (talking Italian, talking Italia-a-an :P)

The Cardigans - A few good tracks. Love the intro to 'My Favourite Game'

Kylie Minogue - My idol when I was 5. Great pop stuff now.

Squeeze - Great songwriters. 'Tempted' is fantastic.

New Order - Done some real classics.

Depeche Mode - Hmm, I haven't heard too much from them. Some I like, some I don't

The Cure - I prefer their poppier stuff really, like 'Inbetween Days', 'Why Can't I Be You' and 'Friday I'm In Love'.

Yaz/oo - Good synth stuff.

Eurythmics - Good pop tunes

Erasure - Hmm, sometime sgood, sometimes very bad :P

Berlin - Underrated, done some good stuff.

Incubus - 'Make Yourself' is a very good album

Creed - Not a major fan, like a couple of songs.

Third Eye Blind - like a few of their songs

Goo Goo Dolls - Some of the writing is fantastic.

Lifehouse - Ditto.

Duran Duran - Seminal 80s band

Spandau Ballet - Likea couple of their early songs, eg 'Musclebound'

Aaliyah - Truely a loss to the r&b scene.

Blink 182 - Hmm, ok

Sum 41 - Not v good

A New Found Glory - Bit better

Placebo - Bit better still

Blondie - Not overrated!! (Ive heard many people on this board say this over the last few days!)

Crowded House - Done very good songs - classics even.

David Bowie (60s and 70s) Not a major fan

David Bowie (80s onwards) Like a few of 80s songs, still not a major fan

The Supremes - Fantastic.

Marvin Gaye - Good

Elton John - Never cared for

Elvis Costello - Like his stuff with the Attractions, a lot

Joe Jackson - 'Different For Girls' is the only highlight imo.

No Doubt - Hmm, not bad.

Phil Collins - Never a big fan

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Only become a fan with latest stuff really.

Stranglers - Only really like 2 of their songs.

The Cars - some great material

The Coral - Good new band, very unique

Wham! - Fantastic pure pop :)
