Subject: A new grandfather - ITS A GIRL!!

Written By: Don_Carlos on 08/04/03 at 03:00 p.m.

Just thought that you guys might like to know that I am about to become a GRANDFATHER.  My second oldest daughter is about to give birth any time now.  Am I excited?  Can I wait (have to)?  Will I teach him/her to sail and fish?

This kid is going to wait until this weekend when we are out of town (To go see Jethro Tull  ;D) When we told my grandmother about this baby, she turned to DC and said, "You are going to turn to mush." I can just see DC being mushy over a kid.  ;)

That's "Jethro Tull" to you, youngster ;D.  Its a rock band that has been around since the 60's.  The lead singer and, believe it or not, flautist, is Ian Anderson.  Their music is really fantastic.  Check it out, and let me know what you think. ;D

Carlos

If your daughter wants to hurry things along she could try these things.  I did them all when expecting my son and I'm not sure which worked.

Try some gardening.  I planted four shrubs and helped put in a hedge the day before James was born.

Eat a curry or other spicy food as hot as she can stand (and watch out for the heart burn)

Have lots of sex  ;D  There is some scientific basis to this one.

Or the one I tried before my daughter was born.

Go for a ride on a carousel!

Best wishes to her and the expectant grandparents.

Eating pineapple is meant to work too ! Due to an enzyme in it apparently.

With my last, I was playing hopscotch with my other 2 the day I went into labor.  It was either that, or the fact that hubby couldn't find his car key and we were frantically searching the house.

So far - not very - so good.  I already have a fishing rod for her, and will get a small size life jacket for the boat.  But right now, holding her little head against my heart, and that calming her, and seeing her pretty little blue eyes - like my mother's - is just SWEET.

Thank you all again for the good wishes.  You can tell, I'm sure, that I'm just jelly when it comes to Bailey Elizabeth.

I will be happy to post pictures of the little sweety as soon as I get some back and learn how to do it.  Thanks for asking.  On the other hand, aren't ALL babies adorable?

Pete Seeger once asked, in one of his song, something like "If we could love another's child..."  wouldn't that help make this a better world.  I wish to all children at least the advantages that my daughter and son-in-law, X-wife, and I can give to Bailey Eliz.  All children deserve the best we can give them.

This way you get all the fun of having children and none of the downsides.  No sleepless nights, no varicous veins (or other pregnancy related problems  ;) ), no smelly nappies to change (except through choice!) and you can hand the child back to mum when you've had enough!

I, on the other hand, look forward to changing diepers.  Give one a chance to "pufft" the little one's belly button, stroke that cute little body, and look into those pretty blue eyes.  What memories this brings back.
