I just have to vent so please excuse me. If you don't want to read it, I won't be offended.

For many years, our food shelf has been recieving donations of Ben and Jerry's. We have someone who goes to pick it up once a month. This month, however, the guy at the store told me that they changed their policy and told me call the "headquarters" to find out about it. I called last week and the guy I talked to didn't know anything about it but told me he was going to look into it. I called him again today since I didn't hear anything from him. He told me to talk to someone else and patched me through. She told me to visit their website and it will be explained what I need to do there. I went to website and it told me to contact the store where we had been recieving it for all these years-the place where the guy told me to call headquarters.

So now, I am back at square one again and have to call these people back to find out what exactly is going on. I think this is a classic case of one hand not knowing what the other is doing.

Wait, so what exactly is the Ben&Jerry's problem?

Their problem is that they sold out to Unilever and now they lost a lot of their (what's the word I'm looking for) umpf? pizzazz? whatever. Now, they run like every other business-a lot of red tape and beuractracy.

Yeah, I remember hearing that the reason Ben and Jerry was started was to do social good, and make some good ice cream. They wanted to support many good causes.

It sounds like they sold out. I would tell everyone. Some people may pay the extra cash to buy Ben and Jerries because they think their purchase is doing some good. They can not have it both ways. If they are just another buisness, maybe it is time to check out other vendors.

They have been very good to us in the past so I am going to try to find out what is going on. If things work out, it may be better for us in the long run because we won't have to find someone to go and pick it up (and pay for milage). What I heard is that they are going to be delivering it to us. That would be great.
