Subject: Personal Websites

I have a question that maybe some of you can answer. Why do people have personal websites? I understand if you have a business or something like this board (Thanks Chucky  ;D) but, I really don't understand why people have a website that basically tells the world who they are. I am even very cautious about revealing my first name. I know a few of you do and I am not thumbing my nose at it, I just wonder why.

My personal website is used for album reviews.  It can be found in the "WWW" link under my avatar... just to warn you, though, it's going under some major construction, and I really need to add some more reviews.

Good question...

I own about 7 websites, but only two I can edit due to the fact that I cannot run geocities on my computer.  My main webpage, www.geocities.com/MFLORIO45 was my first started in 2000, and had really no purpose besides me just wanting some place to put up sports info, which I havent edited in a long time judging by the age of the articles on the front page, and any music news(located on page two) which I also havent eddited in a very long time.  I believe the date on those "current charts" is like Augest 17, thats Augest 2001, I believe.  Then I got www.geocities.com/MFLORIO46 which the purpose is explained on teh front page, and then, my parody website, www.geocities.com/Michael_E_Florio, which really needs an update, and my very very old political website, www.geocities.com/Michael_F45 which as well needs an extreme update.  My other websites being launched are www.mflorio.musicdot.com and the other name has slipped my mind, but one is where my political colums are put up(this is a project still being worked on), and the other is just my basic website to counteract my unelligibility to work in geocities, which is also still being worked on.  Why I need seven webpages, I dotn know, I suppose that I could cut it down to like 2, but I just never thought that way.

I have mine purely so that I've got a record of what music i've downloaded incase I lose my hard drive (again).
The lyrics were something to do while the music was downloading, now it's become an obsession to find the ones I don't have!

I have a personal website that I use for ranting and raving. :D
And making fun of people.

I actually don't run these as a business (I make very little money off the sites).. so they kinda qualify as personal sites

I do have a personal site at http://www.chuckyg.com to list out my resume and eventually an online portfolio of work I've done (and a list of my other websites). It hasn't landed me much in the way of interview requests, but it certainly doesn't hurt.

my personal site, http://home.att.net/~padrino , is an excuse to make lame layouts when i'm bored.  content-wise, there's really not much...i ramble on senselessly, record my dreams, write weird stories, draw strange pictures, claim to be trendy, and make fun of people/myself.  it's not going to change the world or anything, but it's something to do in my spare time. :)

My website is mostly of family and friends, and their names don't have to be given out...but if one of my friends wants to see my family, it's right there handy. Plus, I have other information...my music, books, videos, etc...that's special to me. And I throw in a little (very little) computer stuff.  That was a good question!  ;D

My personal website is pretty much to rant and rave (like Goreripper said), a few friends know about it and some random people may come across of it - but there's no real personal information on the site. I also occasionally will list the tracks on my Mix CDs, or my weekly playlist on the site.
