it's getting a little repetitive, especially to see nothing but ratings threads, and several started in the same day by the same person..

Chucky, you have to admit that these song-rating threads are quite popular with those members who are into music. I have discovered songs (that I would have otherwise never given a listen to) because I've seen people giving them high marks. What would you think about maybe creating a sub-board just for this sort of thing? It's just a thought, and I think it would go over well. :)

I think these are kind of what the quizzes used to be like--lots and lots of quizzes threads in the PPP. I don't know if Chucky feels it's necessary to start a brand new board just for the rating threads, but if he wants to, I say go for it. They may seem repetitive but it's fun to see what other people think of your own favorite and least favorite songs. Like CF said, I have discovered some cool songs that others have recommended.

Problem is, if Chucky decides to start a new board just for song-rating threads, we might get sick of them pretty fast, so, maybe a pure-music discussion board would be a good idea? That way, in case we get bored of song-rating threads, this new board wouldn't only be the song-rating threads but also the type of music threads we've had before (Your Least Favorite Song, Best Intros To Songs, Songs You'd Cover, etc.). Just an idea? :)

Well,
1) A board for just music, if I do that, do I discourage talk about music in the decade boards they relate to?
2) A board for just music ratings, if I do that, it won't have very much interest in a few months.
3) How about a board for rating threads in general? That way you can do all forms of pop culture, and it leaves regular discussion forms where they are
My philosphy on boards within the site, is that a forum should never get started unless it's going to receive at least half a dozen posts a day. Otherwise, it just dies off and no one ever reads it. The Pre-1970s board is good example of that here.
I've seen sites with like 30 discussion areas, and maybe ten of them see any kind of activity each day. There's almost no reason to even poke your nose in those "dead" forums unless you have a question to ask.
Plus people become overly picky about wether a post should be on this board or that board, so I don't want to do number 1 above because of that.

You have some good points here, Chucky. I think a board for 'rating threads' in general would be a great idea. That way, as you said, other stuff can be rated besides just music.
If you do decide to make a board for Ratings, how soon do you think it would be ready? And is it okay to continue posting song-rating threads here on the PPP board until then? :)

I could create it in about ten minutes.. you can go ahead and continue posting new threads, we'll probably just move them to the new forum when it gets started.

The ratings forum sounds like a good idea. You have some good points about why you wouldn't want to create a "music-only" forum.
