Subject: Loverboy In Concert....Today!

Written By: RockandRollFan on 08/31/03 at 12:14 a.m.

In about 4 hours I will be in Cripple Creek Colorado to see Loverboy in concert.  I last saw them at the now gone McNichols Sports Arena in Denver...Fall of 1983 AND first saw them in Pueblo on June 12, 1982.  I remember the day because while we were 45 miles south of my home in Colorado Springs and enjoying the 95 degree heat at the concert, my hometown was being pelted by SOFTBALL sized hail!  The next morning my dad sent me down to order 37 storm windows to replace the broken ones.  Anyway, I can't wait to see Mike Reno and the rest but I will miss the late bass player, Scott Smith...he died in SanFrancisco Bay a few years ago after the boat he was in was hit by a tidal wave :'(

Have a great time. I saw them sometime in the 80s when the Hooters opened for them. The Hooters sucked but Loverboy was GREAT!!!!

Thanks!  I had a GREAT time!  They were awesome....it was outdoors in Cripple Creek  at a venue that had maybe 400 people....they allowed people to go right up to the stage and they were touching and shaking peoples hands...like the Todd Rungren "Hello, It's Me" video.  Afterwards they signed autographs out on the sidewalk beside the casino.  Mike Reno's voice STILL is fantastic!  They played a lot from the "Get Lucky" LP and the 1st LP....They also allowed filming and still pics!
