Subject: Unintentionally Funny Songs

Written By: Junior on 09/01/03 at 05:49 p.m.

Anyone have any songs that aren't supposed to be funny, but cause you to crack up anytime you hear them?

One that sticks out in my head is "What Is Love" by Haddaway - partially due to the "Night @ The Roxbury" skit on SNL.

Others include: "Mr. Roboto" Styx, "Underneath Your Clothes" Shakira, "U Can't Touch This" MC Hammer, "Like A Virgin" Madonna, "Feelin On Yo Booty" R Kelly, and "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" Cyndi Lauper.

"Bad" by Michael Jackson (Chamon!)
"Smoke That Cigarette"-Tex Williams
"If You Don't Start Drinkin', I'm Gonna Leave"-G. Thorogood and The Destroyers (or maybe that was intentional) :-/

This, by the way, is the short list:

The Shoop, Shoop Song (It's In His Kiss)--Cher
Kiss You All Over--Exile
Super Freak--Rick James
Runaround Sue--Dion
Hello--Lionel Richie
Mother--The Police (Well... just, because)
Jenny From the Block--Jennifer Lopez (Well... it's fake)
I'm Real--Jennifer Lopez (Well... the title says it all... it's so fake you would think J.Lo was TRYING to be funny)
Back at One--Brian McKnight (Because it's so blastin' STUPID)
I Will Always Love You--Whitney Houston
Shake It Up--The Cars
Come Sail Away--Styx
I Get Around--The Beach Boys
Summer of '69--Bryan Adams (It just... does)
As Long As You Love Me--Backstreet Boys (Because I used to love this song)
Quit Playing Games With My Heart--Backstreet Boys (^ Ditto)
Addicted To Love--Robert Palmer
Mr. Roboto--Styx
Maggie May--Rod Stewart
Bennie and the Jets--Elton John

A lot of these are songs I love, but just make me laugh because friends and me have made fun of them at some time or another.

This also may be an appropriate time to add that I always laugh at the wrong time.

Mr. Roboto isn't funny.  When I tried out for the talent show singing it, all the judges kept asking if it was a joke!!  I think Cotton Eye Joe is hilarious, but maybe it's supposed to be.  I think the whole 80's country techno thing's pretty funny.

Ditto!! Also beacuse we used the chorus whilst editing our media project. I filmed lots of boys in our shopping centre ('kevs' or 'barrys' if your from England and know what I mean!!) beacuse they were strolling around thinking they were cool- it's the whole attitude thing. The music went perfectly over the shots ;D

I laughed when I heard Justin Timberlake's Cry Me A River after seeing a Pop Idol advert where a tortoise was singing that song and Simon Cowell blew him up!  Liam Lynch's The United States Of Whatever cracked me up when I first heard it.

-Can't Stand Losing you-The Police

-Rocky Raccoon-The Beatles

-Staying Alive-BeeGees (mainly because of that line "You can tell by the way I walk I'm a woman's man, no time to talk." He may walk like a man but he doesn't sound like one. Or it sounds like he is wearing his pants WAY too tight.)

-Years Ago-Alice Cooper

That is all I can think of right now.
