Subject: My Old Kitty

Written By: CatwomanofV on 09/25/03 at 08:08 a.m.

Well, what I knew what was going to happen eventually, happened last night. My 18 year old cat finally went to kitty heaven.  :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(  She had so many health problems that it was amazing that she lasted as long as she did. I know she is now at peace and she will not have to make weekly visits to the vet anymore. I am going to miss her very much.  :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

That is so sad Cat.   Losing a pet is just like losing a family member.  At least your cat lived a long, full life with an owner that loved her.

Ohhhhhhh :(           My sympathys to you CatW.

18 years was a darn good innings for puss - I bet she had a great life with you and passed away remembering all the good times.

My best friend just lost her chiuwawa chiuauaua ?? (hmmmm I just cant spell it for the life of me) DOG ! - he was also 18 - apparently way past the normal lifespan for his breed.  But all the same - he had slept on the end of her bed for half her life - so she is feeling a little lost right now.

I bet up there in kitty heaven puss is rolling around in the catnip and playing with a wooley ball - kicking it with her back feet while holding it in her front feet as if its going to escape any second.  And there is a big full bowl of her fave food nearby and a real comfy bed.

I'm very sorry, Cat.  :'(  Eighteen years is a long life for a cat and you are very lucky that you had all those years with her.  She was also very lucky to have you.  :)

Aw, sorry to hear that, Cat. *hugs CatWomanofV*
Judging by your post and the ripe old age you kept her going to, I'd guess you really love her. And she loves you too! Cats are independent creatures- if they don't like you, they're out of that catflap soon as look at 'em. She loves you so much she stayed with you right 'til she died- and I'm willing to bet she still does love you, CatWoman. She still exists and I'm sure she's chasing mice in Heaven (or Nirvana or the appropriate equivalent)- even if she isn't on Earth, you'll still have that owner/pet bond. :)

That's awfully sad news, Cat...know exactly how you feel...when my previous feline 'passed on' several years ago, I was cut up for weeks...they're not just animals...

I was there when Brandy passed on.  She went peacefully after many health problems, and she went with Cat petting her (I would have been too, but was on the phone with my son).  I don't think she suffered much.  I think her old body was just too tired to go on.  She was a loving and funny kitty, and we both love her very much, and will miss her.  We still have two other kitties, Andy, a very gentle male who has been sympathising with Cat all day, sensing her mournimg, and Electra, aka Squeaky" who seems oblivious.  Thanks to all of you (so far women) who have responded.  Having to go through grief sucks, but it sucks less when shared.  We appreciate your expressions of good will.

Love from both of us,
Cat and DC

I am so sorry for your loss, Cat and Don. My cat is also 18, so it doesn't bode well that Brandi died at that age. May God give you strength and courage in this hour of pain. And yes, pets are like humans and it hurts just as much as when your loved ones die. :'(

Yeah, what he said.

Thanks everyone. Your words do help a lot more than my words can say.

At least your cat died peacefully, and not an unnatural death.

My condolences.  :'(

Sorry to hear it.  That final parting is the very worse thing about having a cat.  I'm glad she had a loving home with you.

I add my sympathies too.I know when mine died I felt like I'd had a limb removed. As soon as I was in the house he used to be there and followed me all the time until I went to bed then he would sleep on my feet which was why it felt so weird when he wasn't there anymore.I'm happy to believe that when I meet my maker he'll be right there waiting for me.
