Subject: Kazaa Modem Attacks?

Written By: mistyhume on 11/18/03 at 04:57 a.m.

There has been a rumor going around that big brother is now attacking modems/internet connections if you have Kazaa installed and are using it - I cant find anything to support this, but a friend of mine is having some major issues ever since installing Kazaa.

I've had it for well over a year with no issues, but his cpu is running at 97% with nothing open.  I've ran virus scans, checked configurations, nothing seems to jump out at me.

Has anyone else heard this rumor?

Nope, it's just Kazaa and the junk it installs - download and run AdAware to clean the spyware Kazaa has installed, junk Kazaa and use KazaaLite instead.

I've had Kazaa Lite for about a year now. I've had no problems with it, even when I had regular old Kazaa. But my friends told me to get K-Lite 'cuz the old can wreck your computer. I don't know if this is true or not.  :-/

Nor do I- I've always been using KaZaA Lite. It's the only way I can get music, because I'm boycotting CDs.

I believe the only thing the old Kazaa can do is add spyware to your computer which means that it sees what you look at on the internet and tries to advertise to you in accordance with what you see.

Kazaa Lite has no spyware. You probably still might get some though coming from various files you have downloaded.

There has been cases of fake downloads being put on Kazaa but these are usually identified with a number in brackets at the end of them (1) or an incredible user amount (e.g I believe in a thing called love - The Darkness 190 users).

Does anyone know where I can find Kazaa Lite?  I tried doing a google search and it takes me to sites that just have regular Kazaa.  I can't seem to find a link to it.

Try http://www.k-lite.tk although now with lawsuits and such you'll have to pay for it. Unless you search long and hard to find a site to get it for free.  :-/

If you can't find kazaa lite anywhere and already have kazaa just use that to download the lite version from people sharing their files before you get rid of it.

Yeah that's a good idea.
