Subject: Christmas songs that you never care to hear again

Anything by Mariah Carey or Michael Bolton

Most of the Christmas carols on the Everly Brothers Christmas set are simplified to the point of annoyance. (Mind, the remix of Angels From The Realms is nothing short of a gem.)

And, as you've already said, Santa Baby has gotten kind of annoying.

Not to worry - we've got a whole month of hearing them on the radio from now !

"This Christmas."  Gloria Estefan's version is particularly abysmal.

'Wonderful Christmastime' by Macca & Co could disappear off the face of the Earth, and I wouldn't be too distressed...

:o :o :oI wonder if it's because they didn't know all the words, although it's hard to beklieve they don't know all of "We wish you a merry Christmas".However,my vote goes to "Grandma got Run over By a reindeer'and "Little saint nick"--not that they're too bad,but it seems they get played ALL the time!!!!!By the way,a lot of the songs on "Songs Our daddy Taught us"are simplified, too(hope you're not too shocked).I forgot the name of the book, but it's several books of american folk songs compiled by a famous author, and you wouldn't believe how many more words some of the songs originally had!"Down in the willow garden'is pretty close, probable because it was written inthe 20th century. But I think it would have been nice if the Everlys had done another holiday album after learning the rest of the words to the songsLOL Cheers! 8)

"the little drummer boy."  it's got to be one of the most depressing xmas songs i've ever heard, and it makes me really mad just because of that fact. >:(

Yeah, on "We Wish.." they just sing the first verse, get the choir to sing the second, and then sing the third verse super-fast for a 1:20 rendition of it. Not too bad, though they could have harmonized it better...

??? ???Well,I do think it's better than "Grandma........";maybe i just don't like it as much as their non-seasonal stuff.Although since the Everlys are Americans,it probably shouldn't surprise you that they simplified songs---I mean, how many americans even know all the verses of the national anthem? :-[And "America the beautiful' is NOT our national anthem,as some Americans think ::)

"Baby's First Christmas"

I have the Time Life Christmas Treasury CD's that I love to listen to during the season, but I would be happy to scratch that song off the cd if I could.  It might be Connie Francis singing it, but the voice is SO whiney and the song is SO corny I have to skip it every time it comes up to play!

I knew I think of more. O Little Town of Bethlaham and O Christmas Tree.

The other day I was in KMart and they had some guy (not too sure who it was) singing Jingle Bells over the PA system. It was really bad and it really made me gag. Usually when a really bad song comes on, you bear with it and then in a few minutes it is over with-NOT THIS ONE. I think they had the tape/CD programed for only a few songs because they kept playing it over and over again. I was in the store for about a half hour or more and must have heard that song at least 3 times maybe more. I guess KMart doesn't want people to spend too long shopping there this year.

Last Christmas, I ran out of words
So what the hey, I repeated them anyway
This year, to bring pain to your ear
I'll increase your pain to the threshold.

(Repeat verse 142,937 times)

Bells will be ringing this sad sad news.
Oh what a Christmas to have the blues.
My baby's gone.
I have no friends.
To wish me greetings once again.
Choirs will be singing, Silent Night.
Christmas carols by candle light.
Please come home for Christmas!
Please come home for Christmas!
If not for Christmas by New Years night.

I'm the originator of this post, but I've got a couple more to add:

-"All I Want For Christmas Is You"---Mariah Carey. Too much whining.

-"It's Beginning To Look Like Christmas"---the version that sounds like it's made from Disney.  :P  Don't know why this one irks me, but I hear it all the time and it sounds so gay because they make it sound like Christmas is just a media Disney-like celebration.  I don't think many people even know what the true meaning of Christmas is!

In ANY form - "12 Days of Christmas".  What an annoying, irritating, obnoxious piece of garbage!  Only slightly more interesting than "99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall" (altho that's more fun on a trip!)     ::)

Specific "piece of work" - that let-me-get-a-knife-and-go-on-a-cutting-spree Barbra Streisand "Jingle Bells"!  What maniacal insane clap-trap!    >:(

My dad has the Celine Dion Christmas album and is it PAINFUL.  The only joy I get out of it is knowing that one of the songs was written by Dee Snider, so I can imagine a Christmas-y version of "I Wanna Rock," with an orchestra and sleigh bells.

Oh, and Christina Aguilera's utter slaughter of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," my all time favorite Christmas song.
