Subject: What Is Everybody Doing For New Years?

Written By: lebeiw15 on 12/31/03 at 03:30 p.m.

I'm just going out to eat, then watching movies and Dick Clark.  I'm not a real big partier. :)  How about everyone else?

-Dinner
-Hanging out
-Heading over to neighbor's at about 9:30 or so.  I'd rather be staying at home, just hanging out, maybe talking with my friends on IM or something dorky like that  ;D, but you know, whatever. The crowd at the neighbor's is mostly other neighbor's and then the neighbor's daughter's friends (I'm friends with the daughter, but we don't share many mutual friends - in fact, she doesn't like many of my friends and I don't like many of hers. Luckily, I think she's only having 2 or 3 friends over and they're not miserably snobbish. Enough of my rambling...)
- Collapsing in bed and going to sleep after the ball drops. I go to bed pretty early for someone my age (at least among my friends - 10:30 thru 11:30).

Pardon my rambling on and on. ;D

That's probably what I'll be doing. ;D  There's not too many parties/get-togethers around my area tonight anyway. :-/

Well, it has been 1 January here for the last 10 hours..... :)

By way of having fun last night, we all went out to a friend's place, and we were throwing one of those things that is haped like a bomb and whistles when it goes through the air, I think it is called a vortex.

Anyway, my Daughter catches it and promptly says that her finger is hurting....

So now she is sitting at the casualty section at the Hospital waiting to have her finger x-rayed - as it is very badly bruised and swollen and she can't bend it at all.  :(

As she is an accomplished Pianist, Guitarist and Saxophonist, she is to say the least, none too happy about it..... :-/

Happy New Year  :( :)

My daughter and I are just going to hang out at home.  She is going to try to stay up til midnight but I don't see it happening.  Then again, who knows...she is excited for her birthday (Jan 1) so she may just to see the fireworks just for her birthday.

Sorry to hear about the young 'un, Fuss...what a way to kick the year off...

We've just had our bit (well, hour and a half ago)...which I spent at the highly enjoyable New Years' party my sister throws so well...

Beats going up to the smoke in the wet to see our beloved mayor let off his 3 quids-worth of fireworks...cheapskate!

Now, where's me bed?

Happy New Year everyone...

Fuss - sorry to hear about your daughter.  Hope she's okay.  We know someone else who spent New Year at casualty with their son who had jumped onto a sharp tree root, cut his foot open and sustained tendon damage.  Kids!!

Anyway we went and had a few drinks with neighbours then we went on to a dinner party with our closest friends (six families - 21 children in all).   One couple live in this great house with spectacular views of the city.  We sat on their deck, sipping pink champagne and watched the fireworks at midnight.  It was a very pleasant evening.

That doesn't sound too bad though.  It's fun to get together with friends like that and just hang out. :)

Many people all over the world opted out of major partying this time around, choosing to stay home. A great number of people rented videos/dvds, some chose to watch the festivities on TV and almost all ordered take-out with pizza being the most popular dinner of the night. This was significant enough for it to be covered in the news broadcast.

I was part of this trend without realizing it. I stayed home, did the take-out thing and had a dvd fest.

Honest to goodness, I think this was the best New Year's eve I'd had in a long time. I didn't even drink! :D

Fuss, I hope your daughter gets well soon.

ow...i hope your daughter's okay, fuss!  i sprained my finger playing hockey two years ago, it's kind of crooked now...

i ended up spending the night at a friend's house...we stayed up until 2:00 watching a "south park" marathon, followed by the movie (i only saw up to the part where kenny catches fire though)...then went to the mall today.  TOMORROW, however, is the big new year's party at my friend's house.  (i'm into the parties, they're always crazy at her house. :D)

Thank you everybody for your concern.  ;)

We had my Daughter’s finger x-rayed, and the best they could come up with was that there was a slight shadow on her knuckle.  Basically they said that if it WAS a break, it was tiny and therefore should fix itself, so the only intervention they took was to strap it to the next finger.

I hope you all had an excellent new year  :D

That's what I did too. Rice Cube and I stayed in and watched DVD's and played on my newly acquired Xbox. :) Our food consisted of enchiladas and menudo that my dad had made. It was also my dad's birthday, so we had ice cream cake. No drinking either.

We went to Snowdonia (North Wales) for a few days with a big crowd.

Approximately 60 of us had a 4 course meal together in a Youth Hostel dining room and then watched a pantomime performed by members of the group.  There were some party games after this which I ducked out of this time.  I've had my fingers trampled on before!  We sang carols before the meal and also watched the pool and table tennis competition finals.

My son went to bed after the dinner but my daughter (age 5) stayed up till midnight.  She was drooping towards the end but was determined to stay up because the other girls who she knew were staying up.

In previous years we've had a fireworks display but didn't this year.  The weather had turned foul anyway.  It was snowing during the dinner which changed to heavy rain later and a howling gale.

I drank what felt like gallons of Bacardi Limon and Moet with my closest pals.
We were all nearly stuck on stupid by the time the ball dropped.
After that we attended three parties and some how at the end of the night I ended up making out and snuggling with my ex on my friends couch. I'm not exactly sure how he got there!

The things that liquor will make you do(sigh)
