Subject: Songs that Sound the Same

Written By: @ssKicker on 01/25/04 at 11:18 a.m.

A few songs that I think sound the same:

1. (a) Jumpin'- Liberty X
  (b) Like I Love You- Justin Timberlake

You may think these sound nothing like each other, but try listening to just the intros.

2. (a) Wonderwall- Oasis
  (b) Life Got Cold- Girls Aloud

This time, listen to the bridges.

3. (a) Style- Mis-Teeq
  (b) Scandalous- Mis-Teeq
  (c) Take Me Out- Franz Ferdinand

This time, listen to the verses of (a) and (b) and the chorus of (c). The strange thing about that trio is that (c) came last and was by a different band, so it's clearly unoriginal... but it's by far the best of them.

4. (a) He's So Fine- The Chiffons
  (b) My Sweet Lord- George Harrison

The famous one- I was by no means the first to notice it. Heck, I wasn't born then. But I still think they sound the same (as does nearly everyone!)

Does anyone know any other songs that sound the same?

I think that "Werewolf of London" and "Sweet Home Alabama" sound alike.  It's the intros that gets me.

What A Fool Believes - Doobie Brothers
Steal Away - Robbie Dupree
and some cereal commercial around the same time (I think it was for Golden Grahams or something)

There are also songs that may sound like other groups...example: Staind "It's Been Awhile" sounds like Elton John as the lead singer of Nirvana (in my opinion) and Pet Shop Boys songs all sound like they're done by Monty Python's Eric Idle.

"the way it is" by Bruce Hornsby and "Fool in the Rain" by Zeppelin, just the riffs...I believe that Zepp's riff is simular to Bruce's, only faster...

the Churus's in "Underneath your clothes" by Shakira and "Together Again" by Janet Jackson...Shakira's is just slower...

The verses of Shakira's "Underneath Your Clothes" sounds like "Eternal Flame" by the Bangles.

The chorus of the new Train song sounds like the chorus of a Mandy Moore song.  I don't the name of either song, but can you really blame me?

Almost every single song Britney Spears' first two albums.
When i first heard "Opps...I did it again" I thought it was the remix to "Hit me baby one more time."

I thought she was making a joke of herself when I first heard the chorus "Opps...I did it again"

And I always got Nelly's E-I and Rid wit me confused.

Black Eyed Peas - "Where Is the Love"
Natalie Imbruglia - "Torn"
Also:  "Bring Me to Life" may just be "Torn" in a minor key

The choruses of the following songs can be sung over each other without noticable difference:
Beck - "Loser"
Sublime - "What I Got"
Everything - "Hooch"
Better Than Ezra - "Extraordinary"

"Why Don't You Get a Job?" by The Offspring
and
"Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da" by The Beatles

If I think about it, I might come up with a list of about 10 AC/DC songs that sound like 3.

"Danny's Song" by Lonestar
and
"You Were Meant for Me" by Jewel

The part wher Jewel sings
"Dreams last so long
Even after you're gone"
sounds just like
"Even though we ain't got money
I'm so in love with ya honey"

There is also a borrowed melody taken from Wonderwall in LGC. The part that goes,"And on the go I lost my soul to some forgotten dream etc." sounds like, "And all the roads we have to walk are winding. And all the lights that light the way are blinding." listen carefully, though.
