IM "stupid" enough to bite I'll take plastic because they usually have handles.

Plastic, just because its easier to handle and you can carry more plastic pags at once than you can paper.  That and I always seem to have bad luck with paper.

If you get paper wet, it rips, but then again
paper is better for the enviroment then plastic.

So...

I'm up in the air on this one.

Ahh, the delimmas of the modern age..paper or plastic?, do you want fries with that?, supersize it?, or cashback?

Well, I'd say plastic, cause they have handles, but the baggers here only put two or three items in a bag (very annoying). I end up coming home with ten plastic bags for only 20 small items, whereas if it was paper, I'd only have two or three bags..
I guess for the enviroment, I'll say paper. For my cats, that like to attack the empty plastic bags as I empty them, I'll say plastic..

Plastic.

I haven't seen paper bags for about 10 years...

i'll have to say paper...you can turn those into some nifty book covers.  plastic bags don't quite work the same.  also, paper bags smell really good...plastic doesn't.

And I thought you meant paper money or credit cards!!

Most shops here use plastic bags though many have swapped to biodegradable.

I save my carrier bags and use them as bin liners or take them to nursery for them to send wet clothing home (a daily hazard with a 2 year old!)

Shopping bags have alot in common with Michael Jackson

Both are white

Both are plastic

Both are dangerous around children

I have to say it depends.  If I'm buying mostly things in boxes, I'd have to go paper.  Otherwise, the corners just rip the plastic bags to shreds.  Or, stuff that needs to stay frozen cuz paper keeps it colder.  Otherwise, plastic is fine.  What annoys the heck out of me though is when the baggers tie the handles into a knot.  If I want them tied, I'll either do it myself or ask you to do it.  I reuse the bags and if the handles are tied tightly, the only way to get them undone is to tear the bag. ::)

I like plastic- I keep a load of plastic bags in the cleaning cupboard, so that when I go to the supermarket I can bring some of them along and I don't have to use up any plastic.

Our only choice here is plastic since paper bags have not been used in decades.  I do remember using the paper bags from grocery stores back then as book covers.
