Subject: People with Historical Names

Written By: jesuisunpizza on 02/25/04 at 11:40 p.m.

Does anyone know some one with a historical or famous name in their workplace, school, etc.?

At my school, we have a student named George Washington and another named John Lennon.

I'm sure there's others out there.

A couple of the teachers said to us that there was a history teacher who worked at the school called Norman Conquest, but they were winding us up, I'll wager.

I know someone called Dave Berry but didn't know it was a famous name.  Who is he?

If I'm thinking of the same person, he's a cartoonist/writer.

Hubby works with a 6'7" black guy named Charlie Brown who looks like Michael Jordan's younger brother.  And, his best friend's brother's name is Lewis Nicholas Clark (Lewis N. Clark.... Lewis & Clark, get it ;) ;))  Oh, and my Godfather's name is Richard Head, and he goes by Dick.

Man, so many. My friend "John Glenn" and I used to go through the list of "famous" people who worked where we did. We had:

Janet Jackson (poor girl. Everyone called her "Nasty.")
Dale Evans (who was a male)
James Stewart (actually, I think there were 2 of these)
George Burns

I'm sure there were more but that is all I can think of right now. Yes, that was all in one place.

Now, I did go to school with a Joanne Woodward and I also know a Patty Andrews (for all of you who are too young to know, Patty Andrews was one of the "Andrews Sisters" of the Big Band/WWII era.) I also know OF a Charlie Brown (never met him personally).

Like 80s cheerleader said, he writes a syndicated column in newspapers, and has quite a few funny books. :)

No, they can be famous anywhere.  At my old college, our "dorm mother" had sons named (from oldest to youngest) Matthew, Mark, Luke & John.  She was Mary & her husband was David.  Can you guess what type of college it was? :P

Oh, you know those brick walls in schools and stuff, with a dedication written on each brick, or the name of whoever donated to the school or whatever?  Well, there were a ton of these at one school, but the very top brick said "IN LOVING MEMORY OF TOM GREEN."

There's someone at my school called Jackie Chan. My friend Kelzo said that Jackie Chan was throwing stones at somebody near the Geography department.
I was amazed and cried, "The Jackie Chan?!"
She said that he was a child in second year.
I just laughed.

To be fair karen, we had a famous-ish Dave Berry too...he was a singer from Sheffield in the 60's whose finest hour was doing the original version of 'The Crying Game' (and wearing loads of black leather!)

I didn't know these people as such, but years ago when I was slaving away in a bank, there were four customers who had accounts at the branch I worked at called (genuinely!) John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison & Richard Starkey...spooky!

Tch! I should be so lucky Howard!

No, these people just had the exact same names as the more well-known ones...it just seemed a little odd that they were all customers of the same branch...

Had they have been the actual Fabs, I could've made a fortune selling off their cheque signatures...!

My name is actually a famous person but I am not personally famous, just share the same name. Older people I know allude to it sometimes. I won't give any more details for my own personal security.

A bit of a shame about those customers of yours, Paul UK. You could be the richest man in Britain after selling off those 'autographs'.  :D
