I once knew of someone named Michael Michael. (But I didn't know him personally.) No joke.

Why would anyone want to name their kid so that his or her first name is the same as his or her last name? ::)

Lance Lance (Former high school wrestler)
Bradford Bradford (From a TV commercial)
Sebora Sebora (From the movie "Howling 3: The Marsupials")
Joe Pao Pao (Former CFL QB)
Samoa Samoa (Former Washington State QB)
Murray Murray (A character from Bob and Tom)
God Shamgod (Former Providence U. basketball player)

Well, one of my dad's friends is named John Johnson, but I don't think that quite counts.

I knew people called James James, John Johns (and a John Johnson for that matter).. Frank Franks.

Others too, but I can't think of many at the moment.

Don't know any of those, but i do know a guy who has a first name as a last name. "Freeman Rufus"lol
oh yeah, there's this sophomore at my school with 2 last names as his first and last name "Mitchell Randolph" :D

I used to work with a guy called Callum McCallum. This repetitive name pattern is not uncommon in Scotland because Mc or Mac means "son of" so the clans used to keep the name going down the generations by calling the sons by the same first name...must have got very confusing.

In Iceland, the surname taken by the child is that of their father with either "-son" or "-dottir" (daughter) added onto the end, hence Magnus Magnusson or Eric Ericson (or Bjork Gudmundsdottir).

8)There were over 20 athletes named Yang Yang at the 1998 Winter olympics.Officials had to designate them a,b,c,d,e,f,and so on.A female designated as Yang Yang (S)won a gold medal in short track speed skating.Cheers!
