Subject: First song you ever remember liking?

Written By: Rio_Rhodes on 04/07/04 at 03:37 p.m.

I don't think this has ever been asked before but I think its an interesting question.

So, aside from songs like Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star and such, what is the first song you heard that you actually liked?

For me, it was Patsy Cline's "Sweet Dreams". I would spend every weekend at my grandparents house when I was little and she always had Patsy Cline playing, and that was one of the first songs I heard of hers and I still love it to this day.

Billy Joel "River of Dreams"
I used to sing it all the time when I was a little kid or a "little grr" as I called myself.

Since my parents raised me on Motown (and oldies in general), it would have to be "My Guy" by Mary Wells. :)

Speaking of which, I think I'll listen to her greatest hits now. 8)

hmmm my earliest memory of music other than nursery rhymes is our "car cassette" - I seriously think mum and dad only had the one cassette in our car and because I spent the first 6 years of my life travelling in that car from town to town I knew the cassette off by heart !

It was Rolf Harris !!!!

Ring of Fire - Johnny Cash

Of course, I was only three when the record was out, so I thought the guy in the song was really burning.... which was the appeal I guess. Hell, I was a sadist even at that tender age... ;D

One of the first songs I remember liking was "Love Me Like A Rock" by Paul Simon. (If you're ever feeling a little down, play this song loud and sing along with it and it'll put you back in a good mood.) I also remember liking Gordon Lightfoot and Jim Croce when I was really little.

Is it true that "Ring of Fire" is about Herpes?

I'll have to say this obscure song that was a hit in Europe. I think it was called "Really Little Hot Pants" and I don't know the artist. I was in Germany circa 1970, when it was released.

I think my first favorite song was "Honesty" by Billy Joel. I remember hearing it on my mom's radio alot when I was younger. I think I also liked Chuck Mangione's "Feels So Good".

I also liked this song when I was a kid (and still do.) By the way, did you know that Andrea True was an adult film star in the 1970's? The story behing the recording of "More, More, More" is fascinating. Here is a link:
