It's OK, though there's many shows that lasted more than 5 seasons.

What is a "cult show" exactly?

A show with (or had) a huge  following like "The Simpsons", "X Files", & "Buffy the Vampire Slayer". Then "Friends", "Baywatch", & (Dare I Say) "American Idol"  would've been  added to the list.

Or a short lived tv show that has a huge following like the ones shown on TV Land on thier "Kitchesn".

IMO, I prefer my second guess:  :D

Some of my favorites from the list:

24) Absolutely Fabulous
12) Family Guy (Though it's returning)
6) The Simpsons

Some I would like to add: (along those that lasted a while & still around)

"Gidget"
"Duckman"
"Weird Science"
"Beavis & Butt-Head"
"Ren & Stimpy"
"Aqua Teen Hunger Hunger Force"
"Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law"
"Strangers with Candy"
"Sifl & Olly Show"
"Aeon Flux"
"Parker Louis Can't Lose"
"Married...with Children"
"Rocko's Modern Life"

They seem to have interpreted "cult" as "not the same old sitcom everything gets solved in 30-minutes Mad About You crapola we shove down your throat every second."  It certainly does not mean cult's general definition of "smaller but devoted fanbase," because I can't think of a bigger mainstream success than the Simpsons.  Now Mystery Science Theater, THAT is a cult show.

I looked at the TV Guide.  Apparently a "cult" show is defined as a show that inspires rabid fanboyish worship that you simply don't get with, say, Frasier.

as I think about it, they did miss an important cult show:

The David Keresh happy fun hour.......

Jesus, that show was funny.....I never understood why there were so many Kool Aid commercials during it though

Agreed!  Especially the Joel episodes.  :)

I'm still puzzled as to why the original "The Fugitive" was left off the top 25. Wasn't the last episode the highest rated for a series until "Who Shot J.R."?
Others:

The Honeymooners
The Kroft Supershow (esp. Electra Woman and Dyna Girl)
Night Flight (USA)
Square Pegs
The Time Tunnel
The Outer Limits

1) Star Trek

I've probably seen every episode 10 times or more yet whenever I happen to see it on anytime I always sit there and watch as if I don't know what's going to happen. Great characters and stories. I guess it's just a damn good television show from the '60s.

Anyone happen to see Galaxy Quest from 1999 or 2000? A funny movie that would have been even funnier if they used the real Star Trek cast.
;D
