Crib (or cribbage) is normally my game, or a swift hand of brag...never played crib online as I'd probably never get anything done...!

I'm pretty nifty with a snooker bat...but saying that, I've had one or two woeful games when nothing went right...!!

Board games? Both sisters and I can quite happily get wrapped up in epic marathon sessions of Monopoly...

Card games:

7 card Texas Holdem

My brothers and I have been playing a lot of No Limit Texas Hold'em lately. We started playing about 7 months ago, and we usually have a game every weekend with our friends. Ever since ESPN and the Travel Channel starting airing the World Series of Poker and the World Poker Tour tournaments, Texas Hold'em has become hugely popular around here. A few local bars have gotten together and put together a tournament, and the casinos in Council Bluffs, Iowa (just across the river from Omaha) have been having Hold'em games as well. Has there been a huge increase in poker in your neck of the woods as well?

Games games games...

While missing out those which I'm nowadays forever ashamed of, sportwise I've played soccer (I attempted some prodigyship at some point, but I now regret it, having done what Freddy Adu did and debuted at 14, I got injured and gave up soon after). I also used to be nifty on a dartboard, a foosball table, and, most surprisingly to myself, and one I found out rather recently, a surfboard. In terms of dartboards, I'm still missing the satisfaction of a nine-dart finish, but when playing in a bar recently I scored 10-darts with 501 ___ 462 441 381 ___ 321 261 184 ___ 124 64 16 ___ 0

I doubt I'll play darts for a long time to come, I keep injuring myself for reasons which I can't quite put a collective finger on. Plus the added stress of having to work out all the mathematics behind it gets me down at times. My aspired vocation as the next Raimond Van Barneveld will have to wait for now.. :(

As for my most tender love of Scrabble, the combination of all the magnificence of physics, the frankly scary amount of time I'm actually spending attempting to memorize the dictionary (with no discrimination as to which dictionary each individual word belongs to). I still get a kick every time I play unorthadox nine letter words as opposed to the more orthodox 7/8 bingoes (the CASEATION/OUTDANCES pair are, and have always been, favourites of mine. Nobody ever expects me to play them).

As for other things, I'll think of them as they come to me.

I love playing darts as well, Bobo but am no good at getting trebles or doubles. I am one of the few people in the house that actually likes to watch the Darts championship on the telly. The tension can be off-the-wall.

I would love to play scrabble with you, Bobo. I remember about 10 years ago I was playing my dad and I lost to him by about 10 points! That's not bad considering he was about 24 years older than me. He should know more words.  ;D

Ooh I love darts.  We quite often have home tournaments.  I also like watching it on TV.  Its the only sport I know of where the competitors go back to their tables to have a drink and a smoke ;D

Last night on TV we were watching the World Poker Tour.  One guy won $720,000  :o  Admittedly we were all drowning our sorrows after our loss in the rugby but it did seem pretty exciting at the time. ;D

I'm fine at getting the trebles, that's not a problem, Bobby. It's intentionally getting them that I struggle with. Sometimes I aim at the treble twenty and because I'm slightly arfarfanark, I manage to hit the treble 4 instead.

As for Scrabble, that reminds me. I'm getting incredibly lazy, and not studying my word lists as much as I should. There are certain reasons for that, one of them being that I'm attempting to compile word lists based on correlations between the Oxford Dictionary and the combined American and British Scrabble dictionaries.

That and nobody's going to interrupt my listening to David Byrne, dammit!

Yeah, Darts used to have the beer culture but that was banned in favour of soft drinks. I remember old legends like Bob Anderson, Jockie Wilson, Eric Bristow, Mike Gregory, Leighton Rees, Chris Lazarenko and John Lowe. It is nice to see Phil 'The Power' Taylor still playing darts. I thought he had finished with it.

I thought watching Poker on telly would be pretty pointless until I watched it a few weeks back. It was quite interesting as each player prepares their strategies based on a handful of cards. I remember a brash Australian who uses chatter to unnerve his opponents - I have forgotten his name though.

What does 'arfarfanark' mean, Bobo? Is that the evidence of all the word-searching you do?  :)

Yes, intentionally hitting the trebles and finishing on a double is so difficult. I have half chance if I can get to double 1.  ;D

um...the ones about Beer Pong? lol........

If youre serriously asking how to play, beer pong is very simple.....you get a long table.  On each side you set up 6 glasses in a triangle touching each other.  You fill each glass halfway with beer.  then you make two teams of two players, and each team takes turn trying to throw a ping pong ball across the table and into the other players cups.  If the ball gets in, then the team whos cup that is must drink it.  if both players get their balls in, they get to go again.  Winner is team who gets their balls in all the other players cups.  Loser must drink all their beer, and the winners.

Its that simple

i gave up on console and PC games a few years ago, the only computer games i play are solitare and trivia games.

It sounds a little like a game we used to call "Quarters". You have a shotglass full of whatever (usually beer) and you have to bounce a quarter from the table into the shot glass-if you do, then you down the shotglass-being careful not to swallow the quarter, of course.  ;D  There was also a few drinking board games like "Chug-a-Lug".

Scattergories is lots of fun!  I play that whenever my parents are in town or I'm visiting them.  :)

I remember the TV game show Scattergories from 1993; it was short-lived. ;)

Anyway, here's my long-awaited list of games I enjoy playing (I may add more later):

Card Games:
Solitaire

Hearts (only on the computer)
Egyptian Ratscrew (a game I learned to play in high school...during a fire drill!)
Uno

Board Games:
Scrabble
Chinese Checkers
Monopoly
Chess (in fact, I have two chess sets that were hand-crafted by my late great-uncle)
Yahtzee (would this be classified as a "board" game?)

Computer Games:
Minesweeper
Pinball
Mahjong tiles
"Marbles" game
Hotzee
and the list goes on...

Oh, and my dad likes to do jigsaw puzzles. We have quite a few of them.

Yeah, well on that day, we all went out to the football field (as we always did for fire drills), and some of us were kinda bored, so one of the girls in my class got out a deck of cards and a few of them were playing a really goofy card game, and I asked them what it was. "Egyptian ratscrew," one of them said. So then they showed me how to play; I picked up the nuances of the game really fast...and a couple months later I taught my parents how to play it!

Plus..I like to play alot of online games (Yahtzee, Literati, etc..etc..)

I do too!! Aside from the games I play on this site (Znax, Tetris, Blix, etc.), I have found a site with free games on it such as Bejeweled (also known as Diamond Mine on some sites), Cubis, among others.

A few years ago I found a site that had a Hotzee game (which is an online version of Yahtzee)...I love it! A couple of times I've gotten a Yahtzee bonus (one time I got two of 'em!). :D

The only version of Mahjong on this board that I like to play is the one that was here first (the one which I've racked up so many scores on), because the designs on the tiles are easiest to see IMO.
