'Graduation'...the word gets bandied about so much, but I've never fully realised the concept of it...

Is it simply when you leave school/education with the appropriate qualifications, or am I getting the wrong end of the stick?

Due to my being born in June, I was actually one of the youngest kids in the class (the academic year starts in September), thus I officially left school at 15, the normal age being 16...

In other words, I should really have been in the year below and finished a year later - but why prolong the agony?!!

I dropped out after 10th grade in 1976 got my G.E.D. and started working. When my friends were seniors I had my own place and a full-time job :D

We had more in 84!  Right C.F.  1984 ahhh what a year.  I remember after graduating getting the best sleep of my academic life.  I didn't wake with a start when my mum stepped on the squeaky floorboard.  I still sleep better than I ever did whilst I was in school.
So for graduation years I will say 1984 and 2007, thats the year I will become an RN!

Well no, because the school I went to is literally an ocean away from me now and it would have cost too much to fly there!

I was originally supposed to graduate in 1998, but I screwed up majorly. So I graduated six months later in 1999.

Nope, actually I think my Carlos is the oldest. Why he doesn't post on this board I don't know. He used to. I think I am going to have to bug him about that.  ;) These days he just hangs out on the political boards.

I dropped out of school in 1986.

I finished my O levels in '85 so I could've left then but stayed on to do A levels.  I had problems with many of the people in my class (i.e. they were a bunch of dicks mainly) and found it hard to do group work when no one talks to me because "you're such a weirdo".

LOL. Well done, Paul for getting the hard bit out of the way. The British don't say graduation unless they are referring to university (this being from a person that didn't go to one  ;D) they just simply 'left school'.

I 'left school' in 1998 after finishing my A' levels.  :)

I graduated 2003 and I can't believe its been over a year now! Wow, just wait till next year, and I'll be saying, "I can't believe its been over 2 years now!!!" I'm one of those people I guess!

Class of 1991 for me (knocking them cold in "Blue" & Gold...Maroon & White were our rival's colors, bah!). Actually, most of my friends either went to the rival school or graduated before me by a couple of years.

I graduated in High School in 2001.  The weird part of it is that the kids who were 8th graders when I was a Senior are now Senoirs in highs school this year.

No it wasn't that far away, and it doesn't even seem like it was that long ago at all when I just look at it as being alittle over three years ago.  But, when I think about it in terms of the 8th graders now being Seniors and 5th graders being Freshman now then it seems like it has been a while.  I mean I mentored 5th graders, teaching them basic German, when I was a Senior and now to think they are in high school, crazy.

Yeah I get the same thing from my sisters who are 17 and 19 years older than me respectively.  So they have 20 and 22 years since their graduations.

This year at work the freshers will, on the whole, have been born the year I started work.  Eek!  Scary stuff.

After spending four years in highschool I finally graduated from it in May 1997 being nearly 19 years of age. I attended Gymnasium.

Don't think I answered this one yet...anyway, I graduated in 1990.  :)

I used to teach 5th grade and my 5th graders graduated LAST YEAR (2003) and years before that I was in 1st grade and those 1st graders graduated this year. Boy do I feel old.

I graduated in 1980.  A few years ago I was student teaching a sixth grade class and one of the students called me over, "Miss, this book is an antique."  She flipped over to the copyright page, "See, 1972!"  Made me wish for the good old days when you were allowed to smack the kids.  ;D
