Just wondering what the consensus is.

I wasn't even aware there was some sort of social etiquette attached to it...mind you, I am a bloke, so that probably says it all...!!

I'm so anal about it, I've even been known to change it at friends' houses & in public restrooms :P

I'm glad I'm not the only one.  I do the exact same thing!

UNDER!!!

It has to be under!

Have tried both, but prefer over.  I find I have better control overall...

Don't care. As long as it is there that is all I care about.  :)

It's a sickness, but I prefer under. I tend to change it if otherwise.

This is just too funny. Personally, I could care less. (When I lived alone, I rarely even put the roll on the holder-only when I knew company was coming, but it was always close by.)  But, my step-father was very adamant about it and it HAD to be over. So, I move in with Carlos, and come to find out, he is just like my step-father with that. I couldn't believe it. I told my mother about it and we both had a good laugh about how meticulous our men are. lol

Has to be over.  I think it is a law or something. ;)

OVER  :) And my hubby never gets it right.

Strangely enough, I've actually had this conversation before with some of my girlfriends. I was raised to set it under since the odds of touching the roll itself decreases. Of course, I am so stoked if my husband changes the roll by himself (which is very rare) that I would never insult him by correcting it if he does it "over." Most times, I'll find that he just grabbed a new roll and balanced it on top of the empty one. What a guy!  ::)

Arrgghh

A question for the ages, like the other one : "Seat up or seat down"  ::)  Who gives a s*it ? (pun intended)

Having had my whinge about it, definitely : "over"  ;D

Over - but having said that, just so long as there's a roll there ! :P

Over, so that it doesn't sit against the wall and call all those forbidden wall germs

I grew up with it being under...but I prefer over. Having 5 boys to raise, we went through quite a bit and I usually ended up changing it!

I'm so anal about it,

Im anal about toilet paper too.  I overobsess about it so much that my friends use me as the butt of many jokes.  That's when I become an a**hole.  ...um....Rectum, I nearly killed him!

Yeah, I'll stop

It's gotta be over... consider...

In todays modern world of power lunches and sleepy meetings.. speed is of the essence. Time how long it takes to turn twist and rip if it's over or under.. i assure you... over is faster

That's my reasoning for preferring it over.

My grandparents have been married for 54 years.  When you go into their bathroom, you will notice that there are two toilet paper holders.  One for Granny (over) and one for Papaw (under).  Problem solved, sort of.  This also carries over into the kitchen and the papertowel holders.  Ha!

The problem with under is if you get paper with a print, the print is upside down.

Definitely over...for some reason, when my kids, for example, put it on the roll the other way, it just seems backwards to me, and I always end up taking it off and turning it around.  ::)
