Mostly from the 1980's & 1990's. (The Golden Age, 1981 to 1990, & Silver Age, 1991 to 1998, of MTV)



Critera:

1. Trend setters or pop cultural icons (like Whitesnake "Here I Go Again" for example)

2. Pushes the envelope (Either art or to grasp attention...)

3. Artistic Level

4. The charisma the band/artist has or had... or that they made great videos

No disagreement here. I certainly agree with the directors, though you can add Hype Williams (use of fish-eye lens), Paul Hunter, and Michael Mann (who went from directing videos to movies).
