I just wanted to say that we are glad that you rejoined, Lauren. The discomfort is understandable (and believe me, of all the people that could have made you feel uncomfortable on this board, it still surprises me very much that it was Rhodes and Vile). If I was new and recieved a start like this, I would feel very nervous at the prospect of coming back too.

However, you are here to make a fresh new start, to make friends with an incredible amount of really wonderful people and have a good laugh. The pros far outweigh the cons and we are here to make you feel at home and not an outcast.

OK.... I think we need to get a few things straight here!

We didn't leave because of this whole Lauren69 incident, as much as she seems to want the attention. That was just a very small part of things.  The whole idea of leaving was something on many people's minds before that even happened. And as far as the whole incident went, can't you just let it go? (Oh wait, you can't let things go can you!) If you didn't keep ramming it down people's throats all the time, maybe you could have got that apology.  ::) By the way if you really think that was bad, maybe you should consider that a lot worse things have happened on this board and people have called others much more horrific things than that, and are they still here!!!! YES!

I always thought that people forgave others for mistakes but obviously that's not true here.  They know they made a mistake but you won't forgive. These people that left have been here for quite some time and people here just want to throw that time away.  If you made a mistake would you like it to just be forgiven and forgotten, and not reminded of it everywhere you go?

Do you see everyone on here posting them?  If things are that bad, get help!!!!  For instance, I have high blood pressure, a possible thyroid problem, a bad back for the past three months, I suffer from depression, I live 6000 miles away from my family and have had 5 deaths in my family in the past year, some of these people I haven't seen in at least 4 years.  but have you heard that before...?? No! Because I never brought it on to the board.  If these things became too much of a problem, I would go and see someone about it! Not post it on here!!!!

If you really want to talk about this kind of stuff to someone here then e-mail, pm, or message in chat. There is no need to bring it out for everyone to read!  Some people just don't want to hear it!

Anyway hopefully this will resolve this whole issue and you can understand the real reason we have left!

Anyway hopefully this will resolve this whole issue and you can understand the real reason we have left!

I've had LOTS of support here from people that DON"T mind replying and that care. The ones that don't want to read certain things don't HAVE to ;) I'm sorry if I "annoyed" you with my whining but a big part of this board is people caring about each other. I'm sorry to see you guys go and I actually mean that :-\\

this is an internet community and like all community's we make friends and friend's help each other out. some of us like to share our pain, a friend shouldn't judge them on that. i'm on several other forums and all of them have there have their share of topics that deal with someone reaching out or lashing out. i feel like i'm entering someone else's life when i hear of their pain. since 99.9% of us here would never meet each other, sharing our difficulties with people we grew to care for is like being there face to face.

i don't think i ever seen a site were everybody was upbeat and happy, if i did i would run quickly out of there, perpetually happy people scare me...

OK.... I think we need to get a few things straight here!

We didn't leave because of this whole Lauren69 incident, as much as she seems to want the attention. That was just a very small part of things.  The whole idea of leaving was something on many people's minds before that even happened. And as far as the whole incident went, can't you just let it go? (Oh wait, you can't let things go can you!) If you didn't keep ramming it down people's throats all the time, maybe you could have got that apology.  ::) By the way if you really think that was bad, maybe you should consider that a lot worse things have happened on this board and people have called others much more horrific things than that, and are they still here!!!! YES!


It is good to know you all didn't leave because of this incident, Rush. Vile and Rhodes gave Lauren the undue attention, she didn't give it to herself. However, all Lauren was asking for was a due apology. She recieved one from Rhodes and everything was fine with her. I don't believe she recieved one from Vile and that is Vile's perogative.

Rhodes and Vile have as much right to be here regardless of what they have done. It is their own choice to leave at the end of the day.

I always thought that people forgave others for mistakes but obviously that's not true here.  They know they made a mistake but you won't forgive. These people that left have been here for quite some time and people here just want to throw that time away.  If you made a mistake would you like it to just be forgiven and forgotten, and not reminded of it everywhere you go?

Acknowledgement of a mistake is part of the forgiving and forgetting process. If Vile knows she made a mistake, why doesn't she apologise? That done, the whole thing can be completely forgotten about.  :)

Anyway, I personally haven't posted on the board much in a long time.  This board has become too depressing and that is why I decided to leave and sure it was the same for the others too. 

I always thought of coming on to this board to get away from life and have some fun.  But some people just want to drag it down with their repetitive "woe is me" type posts.  Come on....We all have problems. Do you see everyone on here posting them?  If things are that bad, get help!!!!  For instance, I have high blood pressure, a possible thyroid problem, a bad back for the past three months, I suffer from depression, I live 6000 miles away from my family and have had 5 deaths in my family in the past year, some of these people I haven't seen in at least 4 years.  but have you heard that before...?? No! Because I never brought it on to the board.  If these things became too much of a problem, I would go and see someone about it! Not post it on here!!!!

I am very sorry to hear you have gone through personal/physical difficulties, Rush. It is very commendable that you have retained a positive attitude on the boards despite all this going on. That takes guts.

I agree.  This place is turning very different with all the old people leaving and new people coming in.  At least RnRF, Dagwood, Howard, Nally, MaxwellSmart, Don Carlos, Catwoman, Apricot, Sputnikcorp and any others I left out (sorry to you) are still here.  But Absolutely Vile, Rush, Rio_Rhodes, Harmonica, and a few others who I apologize not to name are gone.

Thats not a very good excuse, but it is my excuse, take it or leave it.

So, you mean to tell me that the members I had the most in common with have collectively moved to another community?! Geez. That explains a heck of a lot regarding the 1980s board I just reviewed. No offense to anybody, but it looked like there was a class full of students and nobody to teach them. Of course, I've embraced the board in the past as more of a discussion between "those who were there," so to speak. Regardless, I just have to say that it's a bit of a pisser that nobody mentioned me in this thread. Didn't anybody notice my absence?   :\'(

I was barely able to check my email, let alone deal with the 'net. The last few weeks, I've stopped being a patient and started being a nurse. The hubby has an ulcer, so I've added "dietician" to my long list of duties. For a couple that's used to "eating like we're on tour," we're really having to slow down and get ready for gigs at least an hour earlier. Ugh. We haven't had restaurant or fast food since we realized it wasn't just heartburn. That part actually feels good (on the pocketbook as well). On an "up" note, I haven't had a smoke since the whole sick thing started! That's right, after having my ability to breathe compromised at great length, I decided that I might as well make it a permanent change. Heck, the whole withdrawal thing was a non-issue for me since I was already delirious with a high fever at the time. I was too weak to be cranky!   ;)

Congratulations on giving up smoking.  I once read that the best way to give up is to stop because you are ill and then just put off (indefinitely) the day you intend to restart.

Not really that big.  People leave and rejoin all the time.  Real life gets too hectic, or someone has a disagreement with someone else online and choses to stay away for awhile, etc. 

You were probably not mentioned, because you hadn't been gone that long, most of the people mentioned here were gone quite awhile (several months), with the exception of a few who wanted to make their departures known.

Wow, glad you're feeling better.  It's said that people who smoke tend to get sick more often, so maybe that'll help encourage you to stop as well.  I took some night classes last year, and my professor got sick and gave up smoking. He had problems breathing and was a little freaked out by what it felt like to be unable to breath, and made the connection to the cigarettes.  He ended up back on them after a few weeks when the cravings got too strong. 

Okay, so I don't know WTF happened while I was gone, but it sounds like it was BIG. So, you mean to tell me that the members I had the most in common with have collectively moved to another community?! Geez. That explains a heck of a lot regarding the 1980s board I just reviewed. No offense to anybody, but it looked like there was a class full of students and nobody to teach them. Of course, I've embraced the board in the past as more of a discussion between "those who were there," so to speak. Regardless, I just have to say that it's a bit of a pisser that nobody mentioned me in this thread. Didn't anybody notice my absence? :\'(

In case anybody is now wondering, I was sick. December through early February saw me with the flu, then a sinus infection, then pneumonia. That's right, one right into the next. It sucked. I was barely able to check my email, let alone deal with the 'net. The last few weeks, I've stopped being a patient and started being a nurse. The hubby has an ulcer, so I've added "dietician" to my long list of duties. For a couple that's used to "eating like we're on tour," we're really having to slow down and get ready for gigs at least an hour earlier. Ugh. We haven't had restaurant or fast food since we realized it wasn't just heartburn. That part actually feels good (on the pocketbook as well). On an "up" note, I haven't had a smoke since the whole sick thing started! That's right, after having my ability to breathe compromised at great length, I decided that I might as well make it a permanent change. Welcome back, Niko!  I'm sorry to hear that you've been so sick (I had pneumonia last year myself and know how awful it is)...but the important thing is that you're healthy again!  :)

Yep...I knew her back in April 0f '02, she had written about the death of a friends family....she died Christmas day of that same year :\'( I just wish I could have done more to help her with her depression :-\\

Without rehasing too much ancient history, he had actually left the board before all the nonsense last summer began, and was allowed back.  There were a couple people who left around that same time that weren't allowed to return (mostly due to their actions leading up to their leaving).  From what I know, they also got banned on a couple other boards as well, so I don't feel like it was an isolated incident.

With the upgrade to the new server software, I actually ignored almost all previous bans.  There was only a handful of people who didn't understand the rules still, that were gone almost as soon as we started over.
