A friend and I were discussing this subject philosophically about a year or two ago and came to the conclusion that there is no such thing as a selfless deed - even if the motivation is merely to make you feel better. You feel good from doing it and therefore this is your selfish motivation for doing it.

I agree with LyricBoy.  Howard, she just wants what everyone wants......the American Dream.  You know.......house in suburbia, white picket fence, 2 cars, dog named Spot, 2.5 kids.  If she's not able to attain that for herself alone, and you're not able to attain that for yourself alone, then the idea is for you both to pool your resources and attain it together.  She just wants to be sure that you can keep up with your end of that bargain.


I don't think she wants marriage or a husband at the moment cause Robin,herself has to take care of her needs and wants.I understand her but marriage is way too far to even see even for the both of us.maybe just a long term relationship.I also like the way she thinks that she doesn't want to become glitzy,glamorous,have a lot of bling or well known but to have money to support herself and to have a good life with me.I hope she gets what she wants. :)

Because she feels that her psychiatrist could give me a 2nd opinion about my OCD but I told her I cannot see YOUR psychiatrist even though it's a free consultation I cannot see him.I have one of my own and I don't know this guy,he is a pure stranger to me and who the hell knows what he might say.I don't want to take any chances at all.Why does she feel all of a sudden that within the 2-3 months we've been dating each other from what she's been noticing about me that I desperately need to go back on medication? Robin thinks she may have to break off this relationship.She had called me yesterday and told me her parents are yelling at her every day because Robin's parents are saying to her"Why are you still going out with this 30 year old man,he still doesn't have a job,he lives off SSI(government checks)& volunteers and hasn't had a decent job in 12 years".Why all of a sudden are they're blaming me for? I didn't do anything wrong. :( I've been struggling hard for about 12 years.I wound up being fired from Genovese and then was told to be put on SSI in 1995 cause Howard desperately needs money so My Mother did so and after 1995 I volunteered for the remaining of the 1990's.I've also struggled to go from program to program and getting cheesy checks from this 1 program I went to in Manhattan and had lasted 4 years there but I felt very uncomfortable because of the surroundings and left in October of 2003 so anyway,I'm gonna be meeting Robin's parents for lunch or dinner on Sunday,I don't what they're gonna say but most likely they're gonna grill me with questions and I'm not looking forward to it but who knows they might be nice people after all.They don't know the struggle I've been through so they can't judge me.Robin and her parents have me in a nutshell.I need to do this,Howard needs to do that.Well,If we weren't meant to be together,so be it.I wish her all the very best of luck in finding a high maintainence guy who has money and a full time job and that can support her and take care of her as well cause I'm not that guy for Robin.simple as that.  >:(

Mr. Powell's project.  Mine is due Tuesday.  However, I think yours is due Thursday so you have some time.

Because she feels that her psychiatrist could give me a 2nd opinion about my OCD but I told her I cannot see YOUR psychiatrist even though it's a free consultation I cannot see him.I have one of my own and I don't know this guy,he is a pure stranger to me and who the hell knows what he might say.I don't want to take any chances at all.Why does she feel all of a sudden that within the 2-3 months we've been dating each other from what she's been noticing about me that I desperately need to go back on medication? I mean,who in the hell is she? >:( How do you handle this? :(


If you are comfortable with your psychiatrist, why go to another? Also, if you leave your current psychiatrist, you will have undone everything you have achieved with him/her.

I think it's unfair that Robin is treating you this way. She is trying to change you - and if you want to change, you can only do it on your own steam.

Howard, I think it's very respectable and says a lot about you that you volunteer.  Most people who draw government checks just sit around and do nothing.  At least you are trying to give something back.  And you are right, no one who hasn't been in your shoes has a right to judge you.  You're own opinion of yourself is what is important.

I just remembered that I have to read two chapters in a book for school tomorrow.  I hate reading the book.
