Subject: Is it just me???

Written By: 80s_cheerleader on 02/22/05 at 12:02 pm

A lady in my Communications class & I were talking about some things and I was wondering if it's just me or do others do some of these as well:

For some reason, I cannot call my sons' teachers by their first names...other moms don't seem to have a problem with this, but I still call them Mr/Mrs Soandso...

I have to run, but will be back later with more...

I know what you mean.  I've always called my daughter's teachers Mr. or Mrs. So-and-so... :-\\

I do the same thing and I refuse to let my students call me by my first name. It's a respect level, you know?

I do the same thing. Also, my daughters are older and it would seem like their friends should call me by my first name, but they all call me Mrs. so & so.  It just sounds weird. Or customers at work calling me ma'am, when I'm younger than some of them.  :)

I never referred to my teachers by their first names (except for one of my high school teachers, who said it was okay to call her by her first name)...furthermore, some of my college professors enjoy being called their first names. In most cases, however, I have referred to them as Mr. ____ or Professor _____ or Ms. _____.

There is a girl in my class that has no fashion sense at all, she doesn't even wear a bra with her pj's when she comes to school.

okay, here's another one....

is it just me or does it bother anyone else to see people in public in their pajamas?  There's one girl in our class who obviously either has no regular clothes or just wakes up too late to put anything on.  The worst thing is that she wears the same PJ's every day :P

We had a lady come into where I work, for a job interview with slippers on  :o Needless to say, she didn't get the job. Although, maybe she didn't have any shoes and really needed the job  :-\\  Hmmmm, you never know  ;)

When talking to my children I always refer to their teachers as Mr/Mrs but when I'm talking to the teacher I always use their christian name.  I socialise with quite a few of their teachers and our  families even holiday together.  I call our Parish Priest by his christian name but the kids always call him Father Tony.

I would never go out in pyjamas but I have been known to still be in my nightie at noon :o

On my day off, if I'm lucky enough to have absolutely nothing to do all day, I stay in P.J.s as long as I can.  Which, unfortunately doesn't happen often enough   :(

That is annoying.  I also get annoyed when girls either tan too dark or wear too much makeup...or both.  :-X There was this one girl in my class last spring who tanned too dark, an obviously fake blonde, had her makeup CAKED on, wore at least 10 coats of mascara, and wore this lavenderish color lipstick.  It got on my nerves so bad.  knowwhatimean?

Regarding the teacher thing:

One of my good friends recently finished his teaching degree and got a job at my child's school (a private military academy).  Until eight months ago he was (first name here); now he is Major (last name here).  Very strange.

How about this one:

Are there people that you always refer to by both first and last name?  A few people I know are always (first name)(last name).  That is when I'm talking to someone else about them, not to their face. :-\\

Interesting that you should say that.  I was thinking about that the other day but only with entertainers.   Like Billy Joel or Billy Idol.  I'm sure their friends call them Bill but that just sounds weird to me.  Bill Joel, I don't know just doesn't have the same ring somehow.

Other than that the only time I refer to people by first and last name is if I need to to clarify.  For instance my husband works with two people named Bill, but then sometimes we just say Bill and A**hole Bill.  ;D

I have been cracked up by the pyjama thing.I've never known anyone go out in PJ's except escapees from a nearby mental institution !

There was a girl at WalMart today with flannel PJ pants, a tank top & flip flops....no coat, but she had gloves on ???   Oh, did I mention it was a whopping 35o out today?
My daughter always wants to wear her flip flops.  We used to live in Texas but we're in Ohio now, you just can't do that.

The college kids around here(Boston) are into flip flops.  I don't know what the hell they must be thinking.  I've seen them trying to negotiate around snowbanks.  Last year a Harvard student
beat up a kid who laughed at him because he was wearing flip flops and shorts in winter.  The
kid died and now the Harvard Student is doing 6 years(yeah, it would have been life if it was
the other way around.)

I have always been wierd on this.. i went to a kind of Liberal Minded high school and we were fine to call teachers by there first name. I never used the first names, i would just excuse me or something. Same with all people.. i never say, Hey Pete could you do this, or Nick help me out with this.. i dunno why but i hardly ever use people's names. Even people i have known all my life.. no idea why.

One day I saw a girl wearing a pink fluffy bath mat as a wrap-around skirt.  :o  It was certainly an interesting look.  Flip flops (which here in Oz are called thongs)  :o  never go out of fashion in this climate.  My daughters have them in every color imaginable.

I'm in IL and flip-flops are not a year-round footwear ::)

I'm in CA and they seem to be year-round here, regardless of the weather. ::)

I got escorted home by a cop car.

It was October (not that cold).. i was downstairs, my mom said, Andrew take the dog for a walk, my dad said Andrew post this letter.. i was wearing my underwear. I took the dog for a walk to the postbox in my underwear and flip flops because i was too lazy to go upstairs and dress. A cop car drove past and escorted me home cus i was not properly attired.

I asked where it said what i had to wear (ya couldn't see anything)

Breifs or boxers?
I often wondered if a woman would get in trouble for going out in a bra and panties, I mean seriously how is it different than a bikini?

Lol. Nice one. I've walked from the shed to the house in my underwear (my fridge freezer is in there) to get food and I've answered the door to postmen and courier post in my underwear. Not quite gone as far you have yet, Andy.  ;D

That's because you have no as of yet shed your inhibitions. I so want my own film crew, not to blow my own horn (i'll do that later) but i do funny sheesh all through the day because i don't care what people do, think or say.

These guys today (i was in the city centre) were doing all there save the whale sheesh, one asked me for a donation, i told him i was an Exxon shareholder. Nothing major, but the look on his face was priceless.  ;D

For all you whale lovers, i don't hold shares in Exxon, just.. wish.

A guy can do it so I don't know why a woman can't?
