I pick Option 3, because I used to have a mole so big I had to get it surgically cut off, novicane and all.  It was hideous  :P

Sorry to hear that, Mike. I hope you're all better now.  :)

I had a minor eye operation when I was six to attempt to correct one of my eyes that goes outwards. I don't think it was too major anyway. I used to call what I have a 'lazy eye' but I don't think it's correct. Now I only get the problem if I stare for a length of time or I'm tired.

not sure if this is considered minor or major bur i put minor.
I had my gall blader removed in 1988 and a laperscopy (a laperscopy is a form of exploritory surgery when they don't know whats wrong) in 96, they still don't know what was wrong.

Thank you, Bobby :)

It was over a year ago now and there was no pain.  All I felt after was a trace of ache after the drug wore off, but it was far from pain  ;D  My left eye is a bit nearsighted, but I don't think it's lazy eye.

Gall bladder is probably a small major surgery.  I cringe at the thought of abdominal surgery  :P

I had an appendectomy (appendix taken on) in 1999, I was in the hospital for 5 days, I don't know if I would call it major surgery, I had the laproscopy form so I only had 3 small incisions instead of a huge one. I had it on the day the columbine shootings happened, April 20, I remember laying in my hospital bed watching it on the news. It was relatively painful, and I wouldn't want to go through it again.

It's good to know you didn't go through too much pain. Yeah I'm a bit shortsighted too (probably a side effect) but I can see pretty good so I'm okay.

Ditto with me. It's not bad enough to warrant glasses, at least not yet, but after hours of close work I'll get headaches.

Major surgery...(two c-sections)

Don't know if mine would be considered major or minor so I put minor.  I have had my tonsils and adnoids removed, 2 C-sections and pins and screws put into my ankle when I broke three main bones.

Two majors: "Harrington Instrumentation" - due to scoliosis,  had spine straigntened somewhat, and 9 vertebra fused using bone marrow from hip.  Not fun, but well-worth it.  Body cast for 8 months, felt like a turtle!!  Lots of stories from that one, ha ha.  I still have the Titanium rod that was in place for 18 mos during complete fusion.  Hmmmm  maybe for a wind chime, since they cut it to get it out.  I always wanted to test the airport security with it in, but never did.  Shucks.

Also had a "Caldwell Luc" procedure after having fainted and of course hitting the hardest thing on my cheek on the way down!  Broke the delicate bone under the eye.  Great surgeons.  Had lots of eye exercises to do.

Yes, just recently.  I had to have a D and C after I had my second baby because my uterus started bleeding heavily.  More information than you probably wanted to know eh?  :)

ok....i had tubes inserted in my ears when I was little (due to bad earaches)...and I had my adnoids taken out at the same time.....that's the only surgery that I had....it was creepy because they used scented grape gas to put me to sleep...and I kept hearing them say my name.....and it gave me nightmares!!!!

Nothing major.  I had an elective caesarian section and tubal ligation in 1996.  When my 3rd child was delivered after a 34 minute labour and I almost bled to death I thought "I'm never going through that again".  After I found out about pregnancy #4 I thought "stuff this I'm having a caesar and getting my tubes tied at the same time".  So really, it was no big deal.  I made a very speedy recovery although not as speedy as the natural births.

Minor. One for my wisdom teeth, a lumpectomy (was benign), cryosurgery (which I was awake for) and the removal of an ingrown toenail (which I was also awake for).

i requested surgery back in november '02 for carpel tunnel in my left wrist. it took two years to finally see a specialist to confirm that i needed surgery. so far no date has been set and my left wrist has never felt better. i'm going to cancel, no need to repair what my body done by itself.

I've had major surgery to remove a big nasty cancerous growth in my chest. They went in through the side and now I have a 6 inch scar that looks like a shark bite.

I've had surgery for ingrown toenails twice.

All four wisdom teeth out, they had to pop my jaw and I was conscious.  :P
I also had to have 4 other teeth out on an earlier occasion.. Fangs.

I had minor reconstructive surgery on my left knee. There is a story behind this.. if I could have seen a consultant within a couple a of weeks of tearing my ACL it could have been properly repaired. But no.. thanks to the socialists I had to wait the requisite 3-6 months to see an NHS specialist.. by that time it had already repaired it'self, but not properly. They went in, cleaned up the joint and messed with the ligament, but it's not properly regrown, thus it causes me pain 24/7.

I had to have really minor surgery on my nose. I broke it in an interesting way and never went to the doctor.. and after getting bad nosebleeds on a daily basis I eventually went and saw the doc who explained that the things were a bit messy up top, so it got sorted out.

Yeah, back in 1999.  I had to have reconstructive surgery on my left leg below the knee cap because of a bad accident.  I have a plate and 6 screws holding my patella to my tibia.  I was in a fiberglass cast up to my hip for 6 weeks, I had to use a walker NOT CRUTCHES (  >:( ) and I needed 3 months of physical therapy to be able to walk normally again.  That was the major surgery.  On Nov. 2nd, I'm having a wisdom tooth extracted.  Thankfully I'll be out cold for that one too.

F*ck yes.  I don't want to be conscious while someone is ripping a tooth out of my face.  Numb my mouth, knock me out, do what you need to do, wake me up and send me home with Percocet.  I was only going to agree to a local if the anesthesia was too expensive, and it turned out that it wasn't.

The only time I've had a tooth removed with a local was when I had a stubborn baby tooth that wasn't coming out fast enough for my permanent tooth to come in.  It was already sort of loose, but no amount of eating and wiggling was making it budge.  So my dentist numbed my mouth and pulled it out.  This is different though....he has to cut into the gum, drill into bone......this is surgery really, not just an extraction.  I would have dug my heels in about getting a general if it hadn't been offered right off the bat.

I had my wisdom teeth plus four others (long story) removed 4 or 5 years ago, under anesthesia.  The surgery went fine, but the pain medicine they gave me (Vicodin) made me violently ill so I threw up for 2 days.  NOT fun.

I've had all 4 wisdom teeth taken out.. the two lowers were impacted. I was awake for the procedure and I'll never forget the dentist with his knee up on my chest RIPPING this tooth out of my head.. I won't ever forget that sound. He had to cut the other one out.
I had a reverse root canal done on my front tooth, that's where they go in through the top of the gumline and down into the tooth.. I had stitches for that one. Also awake, during the procedure.

I had nasal/sinus surgery in 1995 to correct a deviated septum and for frequent sinus infections. I'll never do that again.  It was a same day surgery.. I was put under general anesthesia, no problem.. but 3 days later when I went to have the 'packing' removed.. oh my Gosh, it felt like they were pulling my brains out through my nose with a pliars.  And the 'packing'??  well it appeared to be two little cotton balls from the outward appearance.. when they took them out, they were literally the size of super sized TAMPONS!!  Ladies , you might get the visual here.. I couldn't believe they had things that size shoved WAY UP my nose.  YOWCH!!!

I shattered my wrist in 1986, they had to put all those little bones back in place and put
2 screws in my hand and 2 screws in my arm to hold it in place. From May to September
in a cast.

Last November, damn it's been a year already, I felt a slight pain in my lower right abdomen at
9 in the morning, by 6 at night I was in the hospital, By 11 they were ripping out my appendix.

As far as wisdom teeth go, my sadistic dentist cut the tooth in four pieces with a grinder and
used a hammer and chisel to knock the pieces out. He said it would be easier then trying to
pull the whole tooth out.

it's almost a prerequisite for a dentist to have a 'sadistic' streak, in order to practice.  Reminds me of Steve Martin's character in "Little Shop Of Horrors" .

I had gum surgery when I was 10 years old (1992) so I could have braces. My gums were too thin and they needed to graft gum from one area to the other. The surgery was minor, but the recovery seemed like forever and it was painful to eat.

Yes, the minor ingrown toe deal is 'Partial evulsion' the major is 'total evulsion' I've had partial evulsion twice and total evulsion once.. but even when they did almost the whole nail.. IT GREW BACK! I have uber acid resistant super toe nails.

I had ingrown toe nail surgery and the same day.. drove down to South Carolina from Missouri.  ;D
