Everone says it's the Southwest, but geographically, it's in the middle. :-\\

Growing up our idea of the west from cowboy movies was always Texas.

The northeast piney woods are is obviously of true southern culture(its culturally almost identical to North Louisiana and Arkansas), the southeast area used to be more like South Louisiana, but its become increasingly Southwestern due to Hispanic influence. North Texas geographically is a lot like the central area of the U.S.(the 'Plains states'), and the Rio Grande valley, the hill country, and West texas are all obviously southwestern.
My assesment:
East Texas: Southern
Southeast Texas(greater Houston/Beaumont/Galveston area): Southern/Southwestern
North Texas: Central/Plains
West: Southwest
Rio Grande valley: Southwest
Hill Country: Southwest

I said South Central because it's really all. Texas is so big you can't put it in one cagetory.

South...WEST! BTW, the NFL is SO idiotic that though they did go through re-alignment to correct some teams geographical locations, they left the Cowpies in the NFC EAST ::)
