I went with Jello, just because it's cold, I do recommend eye protection  ;)

Mud can be cold too. But I would agree that Jello is better, because, well because it is jello. Or maybe some ancient greco roman wrestling. :P

you can eat Jello, it also doesn't obscure the body

That is true. Plus I would assume it is probably harder to get jello in your eye than it is to get dirt in your eye.
