Oh dear - what have I got myself into?  :-\\

Well, in short: yes, I think he should (for no apparent reason; I just tossed a coin).

That could be a number of things:
- how much is 6 times 7?
- what is my (= Zebra's) shoesize?
- how many brain cells are there left in Robocop 100th' head?
- what's the square root of 1,764?
- what number follows 41?
- how many copies of "The Model" do I (= Zebra) own?
- how many books are there on the top shelf of my (= Zebra's) book case?
but I guess it's neither of those, and I've run out of good ideas.

But like I said on page 1, don't blame me for getting it wrong! ;)

Wibble-farming is an urban myth! There is no way you can keep wibbles in open air!  :o
ANYONE with a certain amount of knowledge to our fuzzy friends KNOWS that they should be kept in a dry, dark, and cold place at temperatures no higher than -20° C (preferably a refrigerator), in solemn confinement in a sealed airtight box. Only and ONLY then do they stand a chance of living longer than the average of 1.3 milliseconds.
So if you're thinking of picking up wibble-farming.....it won't work.

I would gladly explain, if I could. But since words sometimes have more than one meaning, it's hard to give you the full meaning.

I'll give it a try anyway:

This is where it all started, rather harmlessly

ballooons...BALLOONS!!!

I replied:

Balloony!

with a reference to the balloons mentioned before. It also happens to be a song by L.A. Style.
Furthermore it is more or less pronounced the same as "Baloney", which means "nonsense", as I took it that NullandVoid wasn't serious.

Mr.Tumnus corrected me:

BALONY

thinking I got the spelling incorrect. But that wasn't the case. Besides, Mr.Tumnus ALSO got the spelling wrong!

So I ended with:

BALONEY ;)

- the correct spelling.

And that's why I said:

No, it's really baloney (that is: nonsense). And yet it all makes perfect sense, when you read the last entries.... ???

You see? It's all baloney, really.... ;D

I dropped music early on in high school - mainly because of the teacher. So I've only had that for a year or two. Maths - well, I DID pass that one, eventually. English was one of my best subjects, along with Dutch (surprise, surprise).  ::)
I also passed my exams for biology, physics and economics. I don't think you'll be surprised to find out that I didn't go to college (what kind of study could you start with these subjects??)  :-\\

Of course I've also had German, French, science, social science and even Latin - dropped them all, because I was no good at them.  :P

Why didn't I think of that?  ;D

I was only at middle-school. ten years. That's enough for me and the teacher. *lol*

In total, I spent no less than 14 years in different schools. :o

Current Dutch scholar system:

age 4 to 12 : Basisschool (Primary school), which is divided in 8 years. (So age 4/5 is year 1, age 5/6 is year 2 and so on, to age 11/12 is year eight)

After that, there are various Secondary or High Schools, like VMBO, MAVO, HAVO and VWO.
They differ in years (varies from 3 to 6) and level of education (VMBO being regarded as the least difficult, VWO being rated highest). That's of course a matter of opinion.
Once you've finished VMBO or MAVO, you can choose to step in in year 4 of HAVO and subsequently finish that also (HAVO has 5 years).
Once you've finished HAVO, you can either step in in year 5 of VWO, go to University or College, or get yourself a job.
Once you've finished VWO, you can either go to University or College, or get yourself a job.

It's really quite complicated.... :D

Now, when I went to school, the system was slightly different. There was no such thing as "Basisschool"; back then it was divided in "Kleuterschool" (years 1 & 2) and "Lagere school" (years 3 to 8). And VMBO didn't exist at that time....

Anyway, I ended up in VWO ("Voorbereidend Wetenschappelijk Onderwijs" or Preparatory Scientific Education). And now I'm sitting here typing silly stuff...... :D :D

Anyway, I ended up in VWO ("Voorbereidend Wetenschappelijk Onderwijs" or Preparatory Scientific Education). And now I'm sitting here typing silly stuff...... :D :D

Thank you for your explanation. I think your schoolsystem is not more difficult than ours. But the problem is, can a child in age of 12 decide what it will be later? Think you choosed maybe the wrong subject. And now is your only future to be a politican. ;)

That's the question indeed! Can a 12-year old take such decisions? And if not, at what age should a decision like that be taken then? That's tough.... :-\\

Maybe I did make the wrong decisions at some point in the past, but you can't change history.

And I don't think I'll ever go in politics, thank you! I'm content with my present job. ::)

It was a bit unfortunate to not have you around when the whole discussion started - it might have helped (not blaming you or anything!)
And I'm not sure if DAK's thread got locked or that he has locked it himself. It could be his own decision. There's only two persons who can answer that, I think: Michael or Chucky.

Well, DAK hasn't left altogether. Their home is currently being rebuild, and now DAK is temporarily offline (might take a few weeks, according to DAK). But Kyle has left as you may already know, and in the aftermath of events DAK has deleted his old thread and started a new ("Talk 2 DAK" - currently "Talk 2 ") whilst chaka is not posting as much as she used to. (That has also to do with her school work)

That's a tricky question. The term "house music" covers a wide spectrum of styles, and I don't like all of them. But I do have a rather extensive collection of house music from the late 80s to the late 90s.

This is my thread. I have started it some time ago. Back then it was called "Don't ask me anything....please!!!" . At that time it was getting a custom to start your own "Ask " - thread. I got annoyed, so I started a thread in reaction. Well, people started asking questions anyway, so after a while I renamed it, and since then it's called "Barking at the moon".

Basically, it's about nothing. People post whatever they like - some people stick around and chat for a while, others just post irregularly.

You don't necessarily have to ask me a question, Philip. Any type of conversation will do. This place is open all hours. ;)

Or maybe not, we'll see. I don't really mind if people aren't interested. But if somebody wants to drop in and have a chat, he/she is welcome! :)

Just thought I'd post some useless links that nobody will ever visit or cares about.

Dutch Top 2000 of All Times (2005 edition) (middle of the road-ish kinda music):

http://top2005.radio2.nl/2005/site/page/lijst/0

Veronica Top 1000 of All Times (2005 edition) (pop/rock music):

http://www.hitsallertijden.nl/aller%20tijden%202005/veronica%20top%201000.htm

PS: You can still vote for the #1 (is it gonna be November Rain, Bohemian Rhapsody or Clocks?)

Any Dutch Top 40 since January 1, 1965:

http://www.radio538.nl/538/programmas/top40/index.jsp

All you have to do is select a year and a week and press OK.
Pretty soon this site should also have the 2005 review.

Hmmm....just checking this thread out for the first time...

When I first saw the "Henk's" topic subject line, I wondered if it had a previous name to it... looks like it had two.

Anyway, howdy Henk! ;)

Every now and then I feel like bumping this thread.

In case you were wondering: the lady in my sig line is was a Dutch actress, who suffered from intestal cancer, seemed to have won the fight (she was declared "clean") but died in hospital as a result of kidney problems (probably a result of the cancer) on April 3, 2006. :\'(

I feel a bit thrown off balance by her sudden death, although I never even met her. I suppose it's because we were about the same age.

In both your area and mine, I'm sure. ;)

I did click on a few others and listen to them, but they didn't sound familiar. I also wanted to make sure that I didn't try to answer one that was already answered. Perhaps I'll be able to identify one or two others. After all, the limit is 4, right?
