Subject: New(to me) Car

Written By: danootaandme on 05/30/05 at 4:34 pm

So a friend has a mother in law who has become ill, she has diabetes and has just lost a leg and she
is in her eighties, so they had to sell her car.  He said I could take it away, It is a red, 1994 Ford Escort,
but get this... It has 532 miles.  Yes that is right, she bought it brand new.  The guy(her son in law) is
retired and has a car and his kids didn't want an Escort, they would rather pay for  a new SUV.  He really couldn't believe that none of them wanted it, and since he didn't need it he let me have it for 2,000.  Not a bad deal eh?
:)

Ford? PUKE!!!!
Yeah I would probably be the bratty kid who wouldn't take the escort (too many bad memories from the taurus anyway!)  But I wouldn't get an SUV.   I did get a pretty good deal about 3 weeks ago.  Car shopping w/ my dad.  We found a red 96 Saturn SL2 w/ 85k miles for $2,900.  However after we bought it there was all this stuff we had to get fixed:
brakes worked on, windows fixed and sunroof sealed so it wouldn't leak, horn fixed, hood latch fixed, new oil seal, and new battery.  HOPEFULLY my car is safe now.

Great deal, Danoota.  I had a 91 Escort and loved it.  The Escort is a pretty good car.

The first thing significant did was shake his head and say "I know you are gonna wreck this car"
and sadly this is one of those things he is right about.  I have to remind my self to slow down, not
think of potholes as features of an amusement park, bumpers are not specifically for bumping ::)
