Subject: Dedicate lyrics?

Written By: Dominic L. on 09/24/05 at 7:10 pm

So, most of us have seen the dedicate a song thread, but why not dedicate song lyrics?

I dedicate this to Phillip Eno:

English Tea by Paul McCartney:

(Paul McCartney)

Would you care to sit with me
For a cup of English tea
Very twee, very me
Any sunny morning

What a pleasure it would be
Chatting so delightfully
Nanny bakes, fairy cakes
Every Sunday morning

Miles of miles of English garden, stretching past the willow tree
Lines of holly, hocks and roses, listen most attentively

Do you know the game crochet
That adventure we might play
Very gay, hip hooray
Any sunny morning

Miles of miles of English garden, stretching past the willow tree
Lines of holly, hocks and roses, listen most attentively

As a rule the church bells chime
When it's almost supper time
Nanny bakes, fairy cakes

It's not a noun, it's a verb, Dominic. It reads "Nanny bakes fairy cakes". A nanny is supposed to take care of younger children. ;)
So perhaps the real question is: can someone tell me what a fairy cake is? ???

So close no matter how far
Couldn’t be much more from the heart
Forever trusting who we are
And nothing else matters

Never opened myself this way
Life is ours, we live it our way
All these words I don’t just say
And nothing else matters

Trust I seek and I find in you
Every day for us something new
Open mind for a different view
And nothing else matters

These lyrics are from the song 'Nothing Else Matters' by Metallica and are dedicated to a very special friend of mine.

Beatles - When I'm 64 Lyrics

When I get older, losing my hair, many years from now,
Will you still be sending me a Valentine, birthday greetings,
bottle of wine?
If I'd been out 'till quarter to three, would you lock the door?
Will you still need me, will you still feed me,
When I'm sixty-four?

Hmm------mmm---mmmh.
You'll be older, too.Aaah, and if you say the word, I could stay
with you.

I could be handy, mending a fuse, when your lights have gone.
You can knit a sweater by the fireside, sunday mornings, go for
a ride.
Doing the garden, digging the weeds, who could ask for more?
Will you still need me, will you still feed me, when I'm sixty
four?

Every summer we can rent a cottage in the Isle of Wightif it's
not to dear. We shall scrimp and save.
Ah, grandchildren on your knee, Vera, Chuck, and Dave.

Send me a postcard, drop me a line stating point of view.
Indicate precisely what you mean to say, yours sincerely wasting
away.
Give me your answer, fill in a form, mine forever more.
Will you still need me, will you still feed me, when I'm sixty
four?

dedicated to my Father who'll be 64 next month. :)

A fairy cake is a patty cake (cup cake) - you cut a piece from the top of the cake - put some jam and whipped cream on the top, cut the piece of cake removed from the top in half and then place the halves in the cream.  (This looks a bit like wings - hence "fairy" cake.)  Sprinkle icing sugar over wings.  Very yummy.

Ya know, I always wondered if Paul meant that song to be tongue in cheek or not.

The picture he paints of being 64 is alot "older" than it tends to be now, LOL! But, then again, in 1967, that still probaby was thought of as pretty aged.

He's probably been counting down the years to 2006 ever since. ;D

When that date comes, I'm sure it'll be a big thing.

Title: Manic Monday

Susanna

Six o'clock already
I was just in the middle of a dream
I was kissin' valentino
By a crystal blue italian stream

But i can't be late
'cause then i guess i just won't get paid
These are the days
When you wish your bed was already made

It's just another manic monday
I wish it was sunday
'cause that's my funday
My i don't have to runday
It's just another manic monday

Have to catch an early train
Got to be to work by nine

And if i had an air-o-plane
I still couldn't make it on time

'cause it takes me so long
Just to figure out what i'm gonna wear
Blame it on the train
But the boss is already there

All of the nights
Why did my lover have to pick last night
To get down
Doesn't it matter
That i have to feed the both of us
Employment's down

He tells me in his bedroom voice
C'mon honey, let's go make some noise
Time it goes so fast
When you're having fun
