Subject: Who Have You Seen In Concert?

Written By: ultraviolet52 on 11/15/05 at 1:23 am

I know there is a similiar thread to this in the 70's column, but this one applies to any and most concerts you've seen. By concerts, I mean the ones that at least involved over 100+ audience members and who've sold at least 10,000 records (or around that figure). What I mean is don't just list off some garage band down the street that no one really knows, because it just really isn't a concert in a general sense.

You can even list classical performances, if that's something you frequent from time to time.

I'll list mine later - but if you can remember what you've seen over the years despite a haze of all the weed smokers sitting in front or behind you, please tell!  ;D

  Nobody answered this one...

  Van Halen - "1984" tour
  Van Halen - "5150" tour
Cinderella - "Long Cold Winter" tour
Mötley Crüe - "Dr. Feelgood" tour

  and that's it...

Oh, I should add that Cinderella's opening act was a little known group with a well known hit single called "Seventeen"...yup, you guessed it, none other than Kip Winger and Co. !!

P.S.\  Just noticed you're in Walnut Creek...you attended Berean Christian or Las Lomas?

I went to a Waterfront Festival in 2002 and saw Canadian Rap Artist "Snow" on the stage.  He performed some of his new hits, as well as old ones.  Boy, did the crowd go wild when he sang "Infomer"  ;D

I went to that same Festival the next year and saw a up-and-coming Canadian all-girl group called "Tulli".  They were on the verge of promoting their debut album.  They didn't sound too bad, but they didn't end up having much action on the charts.  So that might have been their farewell tour which I saw  ;D

Most of these are at Festivals  ;)

Ozzfest, Download & Reading Festivals  ;)

The thing that pisses me off the most is i only saw about 15 minutes of the Damage Plan set. Goddam security! To get from the main stage to the second stage was only a 10 minute walk, but there were security guards checking people so it ended up taking half an hour!

Cradle Of Filth
Damage Plan
HIM
Machine Head
Slayer (2)
Slipknot (2)
The Hives
Sum 41
Linkin Park
GWAR
The Distillers
Metallica (2)

Didn't think I'd see ANYONE else with that one ;) ;D

Download Festival 2004. Pretty good stage performance.

I must admit to going to a different stage about 10 minutes before the end  :-[ But at those huge festivals, it's hard to see everything you want.

This was all a long time ago, when the tickets at the most were $10.50 and you went to the box office
and picked your seat right from the seating plan.  Going to a concert was as easy as going to a movie. Those were the days.  :)
