How many of us 76rs (as in born, not age) are on this board?
It almost seems like half this board were born in this year.

Yeah, 76 was a party spot in our country's malaise back then. A lot of commemorative trinkets were made back then to celibrate it, including bicentennial quarters my mom always gave me when see found one.
The reason why I ask is that there are a number of 76rs I've already come across on the board including:
Wagonman76
Tanya76
Ratman76
Robbie76
JamieMcBain
and now EchoNomad
However there's probably more here without the date in their name to identify them. In my experience it's kinda rare to find others exactly my age.

Just wondering, were the Centennial years (i.e. celebrations, or just the day itself) special in itself that someone who didn't live through it would feel they were missing out? Of course, the very thing celebrated is special (the US becoming a country), but do they go all out even more on a Centennial year?
I was a few years too late for 1976. And by 2076, I'll be 94 years old (good chance I'll still be alive, but you never can tell, LOL) so I may not get to see that.

Well I imagine that the Centennial was quite an event since the country as we know it was almost destroyed 3 times within 100 years- Revolution, War of 1812, Civil War. As for living through a celebration I missed out too, I was born a month after the 4th of July. I just got all the trinkets later growing up. As for the "Tricentennial" the questions are, we will be alive, and will there even be one? If I do get to see one at least I'll be celebrating my my own centennial.
Just out of curiousity, were you born in 1982, if so, you have the distinction of being the class of 2000!
