Subject: Have you ever Googled your name to see what turns up?

Written By: MLB on 01/11/06 at 2:42 pm

I did this last year when I was looking for my "MIA" uncle and I found at least 2dozen other ladies with my name!  One of them is about 18 and lives in my town...used to go to school with my teenaged sister.

Professors, a choreographer, a real estate broker, a makeup artist...and me...the most educated day care teacher available in Southern California!

I did this, and oddly enough, the No. 3 site actually did refer to me!  :o

There was also a arguementative fella who would be at home on the politics boards here, as well as an Alaskan primary school student who wrote about hunting a bear.  Also, my name is shared with a pastor, a detective, and a grandchild of some dead person.

Yes, but when I searched my maiden name, I got a bunch of sites in foreign languages...

And my married name is too common so I didn't bother to go through the hundreds of them.

- Some guy in Australia has the same first and last name as me  :o
- Some website I joined a while ago

- Another site which shows up like this: (which I found amusing)
FW: Flags Across America
... m; Nieman, Luke; MyLastName, Henning; Nor ...

That would be it.

My last name (which isn't all that common, particularly the way it's spelled) shows up with quite a few hits - although nothing exciting.

Yes, and did you know you can buy books about me at Amazon dot com? Ebay also has a lot of product about me.

Using my common last name brings up football & baseball players.

Using my double first name brings up Desperate Housewifes and the actress of the same name.

Do image searches too....get a lot of Virgin Mary pics.

They speak the same language but they are considered two different groups because of religion. Serbians are Orthodox, and Bosnians are Muslim. So yes the Bosnian guy was Muslim. His name was Zahir. I remember people at my school gave him a hard time because he was white and Muslim(very white actually, lol). The Serb cat was very dark though.

I don't understand. Bosnians are mostly Muslim, Serbs are mostly Orthodox. That was the source of the conflict between the two ethnic groups. It was largely religious. I don't understand whats offensive about what I'm saying.

That's the thing, Bosnians are not mostly Muslim.  I think the media just decided to label the Bosnians that way for ease of explaination, not because it's correct.  My family is Bosnian Serb...from Sarajevo and Montenegro and also Orthodox.

I understand all about the war, believe me, I heard too much about it. :P

Really? I did not realise that. I was friends with the Bosnian guy(partly because I was a practicing Muslim at that time in my life) and the impression he gave me always seemed to agree with what the media says.

Yeah, I can understand that.  The media tried to make it look like the Muslims were helpless victims. ::)  I'm sure if I was muslim I would want to believe the story that sounded better too.  I'm not saying I agree with what either side did, but there were two sides to that war.

I'm not familiar with the whole history of that conflict. But I'd say that the people at Srbrenca(im sure i butchered that spelling) were definitely helpless victims..

But I do think the Serbs probably got a bad rap too. The media did seem to make it out as Holocaust redux, and while I think some of things that happened were probably horrible, if you compare it to the things that happened in other places in the late 20th century, it wasn't shocking. There was Rwanda, the massacres in Beirut etc.

I think that Milosevic was an awful man and it's unfortunate that the Serbs as a whole are being judged by what he did.  I'm not saying you are judging them, just that some people do.

Apparently, my married name comes up as my being a writer and director, most notebaly for the movie "Monster."

My maiden name comes up with me actually.  Most of the stuff is about geneology (which I was into alot when I worked at the library), and one is where I entered a pinball competition 4 years ago.

When I search for Marshal Trigg, I get a lot of links to "easter eggs" in computer games, probably things I submitted when I was twelve, maybe thirteen.  Another thing when I was twelve, I read Sonic the Hedgehog comics, and I sent them a letter and they posted it in one of their comic books, and my name got brought up on a fan site.  Course, I'm legendary among the Sonic crowd.  :D

Married name:  An obit, a sicko porn site, a post from a different messageboard (by me) and a bunch from this one.  The last page had one like that was a weird combo of the other messageboard and the porn site.  Not clicking on that link, that's for sure.  I think I need to set my google to not bring up porn.
