Subject: Feel Any Way, News Of Any Form- March

Written By: Apricot on 03/01/06 at 1:56 pm

I can't do it. I can't meet the expectations set for myself... I've tried and tried and tried, and I've never made it.

What's the point of even continuing, when all I do is fail?

Even if I'm NOT failing, I'm still in for a delightful stream of lectures, put-downs, screaming, and punishment for the next several months.. and I just got away from that.

Just got off the phone with my mom... she's clearly disappointed in me, but not nearly to the extent my dad will be when she tells him. And he gets home Saturday. I'm scared.

Ok, so I don't know your dad, so I can't really say this, but... what's the worse that could happen?

You get grounded... ok.. well... don't worry!

but then again, yeah.. I don't know, maybe he could do worse.

At least try not to think about it much until it actually happens?

Oh, he can do much worse. I got kicked out of the house in the rain in the winter once... other times he threw out everything in my room... and it's not just grounded.. it's total groundation of everything for upwards of a month and a half. Essentially, all I get to do is study and walk the dog.. I don't even get music.

Cat, it is hugely important that your Mum follows through with rehab as soon as the doctors let her.  The biggest problem with hip replacement is that people get depressed and do not do the exercise/rehab.  It is a serious problem.

So hassle her if you have to (I hope you don't have to...) but MAKE SURE she gets moving!

Best wishes...  :)

Thanks for your well wishes. I didn't talked to her myself but one of my sisters did and said that she was tried, her mouth was dry (and had trouble talking) and wasn't in too much pain. I have heard that she did stand for a bit. I know she is going to go into rehab right away and will probably be in the hospital for 2 weeks. We may take a trip down there (3 hour drive from here) next week to visit with her-but that hasn't been determined yet.

Yeah. Irritatingly, even though i've been doing early mornings for 2 months my stupid body clock STILL won't adapt and I still can't fall asleep until about 1-2am. Last Sunday I was so tired, I went back to bed at 4pm and got woken up by my mam at 7:30 the next morning - still in my work uniform!

Yeah, I think the original one was simply titled "The Feel Any Way, News Of Any Form Thread" and it was started sometime in '04; I don't remember when. :-\\

Oh.  Perhaps if you can show the prep work you did they might be sympathetic?  It's a harsh way to learn the lesson of backing up your work as you go.

In other news, i've got an interview for Sunderland university on the 15th. They want me to bring along a portfolio of work to show them... but I can only think of a couple of pieces I can take in that are journalism-related

I would think that any writings you have should be acceptable.  You are not a journalist now, that is why you are going to attend their
school.  I would think they are probably more interested to see see how proficient you are grammatically, in that case term papers,
essays, and such should be ok

Can you not learn without an Instructor? Do your parents not drive?

Yeah, my mam drives. She originally booked me the lessons as an 18th birthday present and she paid for 6 hours on the driving simulator and then 5 more lessons, I had to pay for the rest, all the while watching the balance in my bank account slowly drain. Wasn't enjoying it much, either

Plus, when (if?) I get into University, I won't need to drive. The bus which stops at the bottom of my street stops directly outside of the building. It's only about a 15 min journey tops, and i'm sure getting a bus is a lot cheaper than maintaining a car (petrol, insurance etc)

I believe there's a law here in California that you can't get your license without lessons until you are 17, but if you want it when you turn 16, you gotta get the lessons. My daughter had three 2hour lessons and this guy was ex highway patrol, teaches defensive driving and really tries to expose a student drivers weaknesses so they can strengthen those areas. I went with her on all 3 (over-protective dad) and those were some tough courses. San Francisco, freeways, busy residential and commercial neighborhoods and it helped her easily handle the normal driving she now does. Not sure where Dak resides, but lessons are expensive but to a new driver, its worth it. Not sure if the laws where you live are the same or not. I took my daughter driving in remote ares before her lessons so she wouldn't screw up too bad.  :)  good luck Dak
As for this topic, I'm feelin good as usual, but my eyes hurt because I didn't have my reading/computer glasses today at work.

oh hell yes!  I wish I had one of those original army willys jeeps, that would rock. I owned and drove a 1955 BelAir and 1970 Malibu for 3 years prior to gettin my license. you can get away with that kind of stuff in a small town.

I think here in IL, you have to have lessons unless you're 18.  We also have a "time requirement" where they have to drive a minimum of 25 hours with a parent/guardian/licensed driver over age 21.  In addition, until you're 18, you're only allowed 1 unrelated passenger under age 18 in the vehicle at any given time.
they need 40hours here instead of 25 and we kept track of her hours on the calendar which I mistakenly threw out because it was 2005 and I just got a new 2006 one to put on the fridge. I got in a little trouble for that error.

I had one!  You think SUVs tip, you ain't seen nothing, hey are just as unstable....tough, but unforgiving.  Good
for doing the dunes though.  ;)

back on topic:  I enrolled Jake in a special needs swim lesson, he is a pretty good swimmer, and I really did it more
for the social aspect.  The past 2 years it has cost $160 for a 12 week course, I signed him up again and got the bill,
it went up $110! From $160 to $270 with only 11 weeks.  The group sponsoring is a charitable on for kids with special
needs, they hold the program at a local high school, but they said because of a drastic reduction in FEDERAL FUNDING
that is what they have to come up with in order to have the program.  I think we are getting screwed by both the feds
and the local authorities.  I have the money, but, needless to say, alot of people had to drop out.  One parent had 2 kids
in the program and they wouldn't cut her a break    >:(

No, no, no.. not a Jeep. This is something very different indeed. Landrovers are generally used by the British, French etc military as well as for civilian use (those are the faggy models though). A jeep is a toy, a Landrover is a machine.

A 'B' is considered failure in my house. My dad has it in his head that if I try, there is absolutely no reason I wouldn't get all 'A's in every subject, all the time, regardless of difficulty, the teacher, the subject, anything. I get punished very heavily for 'B's, which is why I wasn't online for the first half of this school year or so.

I'm supposed to go to the Ivy League, and if I don't, again, I've failed. 'B's don't make the Ivy League.

Christ, that's harsh.

I had no other alternative.
I was using a public computer (like I usually do) and I was logged in from that computer. I didn't wanna restart it, because as soon as the IE window comes back up, I might still be logged in, and I didn't wanna just leave it like that. Cuz' you never know who might access this site later from that same computer.

Yes...sort of. But I wasn't at home for most of the day yesterday. I was at school (in one of the university's computer labs).

The computer I use at home isn't really mine; it belongs to my parents too. Hence it's not my own, per se.

Often times I use a public computer, like I'm doing right now.

I feel so bad for you!  That's horrible!  'B's are good grades!

They don't make the Ivy League, though.

Anyway, tonight was okay.. I found out my Latin teacher, once again, forgot to give me credit for a few homeworks.  ;D I'm gonna have to RE-show them to him tomorrow.

So your Ivy League doesn't accept them?

I still agree that B does not stand for Bad, as you seem to imply. :-\\ You can't always expect perfection from a class.

How did George qualify for affirmative action?

bushie came out against affirmative action because he said he believes people who aren't qualified certain positions were being hired or accepted to college based on color.  It was pointed that he attended Yale without making the grades that would have admitted him if his father was not a wealthy government official(the emphasis on wealthy), then after almost tanking there, and being refused admittance to Texas Law he miraculously was admitted to Harvard.  Not so much affirmative action as it was daddy action.  Where is the suit against unqualified legacies?

She was moved to a "more care" room (NOT Intensive Care but close). I haven't talked to her since Monday but have been in constant contact with my sister who has been talking to her-so I have been getting updates. The lastest is not to call until Monday. Hopefully, by then she will be up to phone calls. Of course that is good for me because I am not exactly up to calling myself.

I just learned why my mother is in the ICU-she had a heart attack.  :\'(  I don't know how severe. She will probably be in the ICU for at least another day.

I really can't say if I feel any better or worse than yesterday but I did lose my voice from coughing so much. (I know, some people think this is a good thing.  :-\\ )

You gotta watch yourself with Radiohead.. they're some depressed mofos.. not a good idea to listen if you happen to be happy. There are certain songs and musicians I avoid listening to when I'm in a good mood (or even just an "in-the-middle" mood), and Radiohead is one of those bands.

I am now resigned to the fact that I completely messed up an interview I had on Monday, which was to get a (very limited)  place on a Social Workers degree course.

After spending the whole day writing case studies/maths tests/group activities etc which all went fine, I fell at the last hurdle during the face to face interviews.  Oddly I just went all GaGa  ;D  and couldn't relay my answers back coherently due to nerves - believe me this opportunity meant soo much and I had put a lot of work into getting the interview in the first place, and was completely devastated leaving the campus.

I haven't had the rejection letter yet...but I just know it's coming.  :(

Anyways I've kicked myself - full force - up the arse,  and now I'm back to working on getting further decent grades and umm making a better impression next year   ;D ;D

I know what you mean about that kind of stuff.  Around people I know, and in print I can be quite glib, but to speak in front of  strangers, especially in a situation like that, I get nerved, and if I'm lucky I draw a complete blank, because if I try to talk sense it comes
out nonsense, which is worse.  I have since found out that this isn't uncommon and they actually have classes to relieve people of anxiety during public speaking.  You should look into something like that, once you mess up like that you usually do it again because you are so
anxious about not doing it you wind yourself up.  Its a behemoth that feeds on itself.  :(

Sorry to hear it didn't go as well as you'd hoped.  I'd been wondering how the interview had gone.  I would've PM'd but.....

If you did really well on all the other things the interview might not have been the clincher.  Anyone worth their salt should be able to tell clueless from nervous.

Thanks very much for your advice and good words.  I think I simply went to pieces because I've been working towards it for almost 10 months and probably was placing far too much pressure on myself.  Normally I'm quite confident and relaxed but, oh well, I guess I wanted it too much.   Also haven't had a formal interview for years now, the job I do currently had a really relaxed 'sitting on a couch' interview.   Anyways I don't give up that easily...next year maybe   :D   Thanks again

The jibbering Idiot.
I'm sorry that you went gaga and I'd help out with additional bum kicks but I think you've beat yourself up good enough. Another door may open. Lets hope so.

I think it's because time seems to pass more slowly as a child.. ever notice that? I used to remember back in 3rd grade, a day felt like what now feels like a week most of the time. Maybe it's just that we become more time-oriented as we age.. we have to worry about work schedules, appointments, even in our recreation (movie showtimes, etc.)

As a child, it's just more magical because it's such a long time between, maybe.. that's what I think. Also, we tend to believe more about the holidays, and as we age, it becomes just another day.

As for me, I talked to my mother today. She is out of critical care (NOT ICU like we all thought) and is on the road to recovery. She has been walking a bit and should be able to start rehab in a few days.

I, too am on the road to recovery. The bug is still hanging on a bit but I'm improving. My voice isn't 100% yet. When I talk to my mother, she said that I sound human again-unlike the last time I talked to her.

That's true.  Lately I've found out how easily I can confuse the days.  There have been things that I think was a day or two ago, but it's actually been a week or longer.  The days run together more.

Oh I find that all the time.

I'm often confusing days, it's rare for me to actually know what day it is. I tend to get up at roughly the same time every day, go to sleep at the same time every night and it all just blurs in to one.

Antivirus Software always takes a long time.

You're so right...

My mom was on the phone with the company; they told her what to do when the computer froze; they also said that the last phase of the installation was only supposed to take 45 minutes...it was stuck for two hours! :o What we really need to do is get a brand new computer; the one we have is 5 1/4 years old.

Our Norton Antivirus took no time at all to install, there must had been something already there.

By the way, we/I have the new monitor now, flat screen so I more room for book and notes on the computer desk, and it works a treat.

actually there is this stuff that I bought at the chiropractic office I go to....it's called, "biofreeze"....it works great...almost immediately upon impact.  You can get a tube of it for around $10..and it is well worth it...most chiropractic offices carry it, but you can find it on Ebay as well.

I had my faith in human kindness restored today.   Yesterday I lost my cashpoint/bank card and as Chris is away for a few days was pretty stuffed without any means of getting goods etc. Anyways as I'm a bit dopey I thought I'd wait a while beore I reported it as 'lost' and made sure I'd searched everywhere for it.
It didn't turn up so I rang the bank this am and 'lo and behold' some kind honest person had rang them yesterday and informed them they'd found it   :) :)  just wonderful...and lucky.

I was not in a good mood last night after getting home; that's because the train was delayed three times, so we were about an hour late getting home. First we had to wait for another train to go by, then another Amtrak, and then we had to wait for our signal to clear. Meanwhile, our little dog was home by herself, in a dark house. I think we should start putting the timer on our lights again.

Dog's tend to not mind the dark Nally.

My dog prefers if I turn the lights off for her. I usually leave the TV on though..

That's because you have a Lab.

Lab's aren't easy to train and generally cause havoc for quite some time before calming down.
Also, you don't know how to handle dogs. That's not something to be embarresed about, the vast majority of people who haven't been around dogs much don't know how to handle them.
I dare say the dog has no respect for you.

well Howard....maybe it's her "time of the month"....you tend to want to eat lots of junkfood during that time. However, judging by the picture that you had posted of Robin....she doesn't appear to be overweight at all. If she is happy eating those kinds of things...it's really her business.  Maybe instead of harping on her to quit eating...instead you could suggest going for walks together or something that would constitute as a healthy practice in life.

She's a good eater. enjoy it with her. she can have a salad and 5 fruits and vegies tomorrow.  That filet & fish w/fries would make me feel good, it's not that bad if she doesn't do it all the time, maybe once a week or every couple weeks. You're finishing for Easter already?  Actually the uni finishes tomorrow.  The schools have another couple of weeks.

My daughter has gone away for an overnight trip with her school.  She is staying in a place about 10 minutes drive away.  She has been looking forward to going and I reckon they are all going to have a really good time.  I was surprised at how many mums had tears in their eyes as the coach drove off.  Maybe I'm hard hearted?

I'd hate to burst your bubble, Howard, but that's a LOT of fat right there. You shouldn't have more than 6  ;D

Well,I ate the whole thing and I was somewhat hungry.
I understand that's a lot of fat but I have a fast metabolism so I burn it off pretty quickly.

Howard....do you realize that there are more calories and fat in your 20 piece nuggets (840 cal, 49 g fat) than her filet-o-fish (400 cal, 18g fat) and fries {380 cal, 20g fat} (assuming you meant medium)?

Yes CM,I realize that.I have a fast metabolism so I can burn it off pretty quickly.

Like I said,I have a fast metabolism so I can burn food off quickly and I'm still the same weight.

A letter has came through the post today confirming that I have been offered a place on the journalism course at Teesside University  8)

I'm really chuffed. Now it means I have that one as an actual confirmed place, and the conditional place at Sunderland. Probably the best news i've had all month

the main thing I've learned in buying cars and I've bought a few used and new, is to do your homework.  Once you know what you are interested in buying,  hit the internet and study all you can about prices and options, blue book value low and high, and go prepared knowing what you wanna spend, not there to spend what they want you to spend. you have all the power, the money, check, and they need your business. when you have tons of info they can't BS you because once you show you know what you're talking about, they back off some.

Things have been going fairly well recently, though I do believe I failed that honors geometry test that Andrew mentioned before. There was some bad news today, though. There was a bus driver that was killed at an elementary school. They were practicing fire drills and she was helping the kids off the bus. The bus driver behind her though he was too close so he went to back up, but accidently went forward and pinned her between the two buses. Then she died on her way to the hospital. My mom is having a good deal of trouble with this since she worked at the school, but she didn't know her too well.

Kinda bitter right now. A few hours ago at work, I tripped and fell, and when I tried to break my fall I wound up jamming three of my fingers on my right hand. I wound up having to go to the ER, and although thankfully nothing was broken, I did wind up spraining them pretty good and I have to wear a splint for the next few days. Right now I'm finding out what a bitch it is to type given my current condition, so I probably won't be posting a whole lot (not that I do that much anyway).  Oh well, sh!t happens.

My Dad was pretty much the same.  When I moved out of the house at 18 he didn't talk to me for awhile.  We never
had much of a relationship anyway, he loved me, but was confused about a daughter like me.  If your father loves you, he will
get over it. If he loves you he won't have any choice, emotions don't work like that, as we are all well aware.  ;)

I'm feeling pretty good today. The only thing that's on mind is marriage. Her and I have been making out so much at her house that It's not right to be making love in your Parent's home while they're away. So,we were thinking that the both of us,if we get our situations together in a couple of years from now,to get married and buy a small apartment but that won't happen for many years now. It's in the thought process, not going to happen anytime soon.

Where to begin?  They treat their workers like s**t-terrible pay-hardly any benefits. They take out life insurence on their workers. They pay people in China only about 50 cents a week to make the crap they sell. They push out Mom & Pop stores. That is only the short answer.

I do not do Wal-Mart.

Cat

(I'm not always Mr. Big Business Right winger  ;))

I too have major issues with Wal-Mart.
I'm not a pro-union guy, but that dosen't mean I don't think people shouldn't have the opportunity to form unions, just that unions should be limited. Wal-Mart dosen't allow any sort of Union, screw them.

From an aesthetic perspective Wal-Mart's are revolting, give me a nice Target store any day.

I don't go in to the whole "Well they're running out Mom & Pop stores" argument.. cus that's Capitalism folks. But at the same time, Wal-Mart is an abusive corporation.

They lie about their 'Made in America' guarentee. I'll pay a premium for products made in America, but all Wal-Mart does is take chinese products (from workers getting paid 50 cents a week, thanks Cat) and slap a big tacky goddam smiley MADE IN THE USA sticker on it.

I'll give you an example of how good Wal-Mart actually is.
After nearly nine years and billions of dollars invested in to the German area of wal-mart they still have less than 10% of the market share, compared to companys with fewer stores and much smaller budgets.
This is because workers in Germany can unionise and because German consumers want good products as opposed to cheap products.

By the by, one of the main reasons for my dislike of Hillary Clinton is her working as a lawyer for wal-mart and serving on the board of directors, overseeing a large expansion in Wal-Marts across the country and seeing thousands of workers lose jobs at regional stores and have to work for Wal-Mart. Thank's Hill  ;)

So, my conclusion when it comes to Wal-Mart?

You should never dread work.

In all seriousness, you should point this out to your boss (unless he/she is the reason). A happy worker is a good worker, an unhappy worker is an unhappy worker.

So anyway, at work last night.. you'll like this one.

Me - "So yeah Eric, on Sunday I'm gonna need to leave about half an hour early."
Eric - "Ok, hot date or something eh?"
Me - "Errr, not exactly?"
Eric - "Oh, what are you doing?"
Me - "It's Wrestlemania Eric!"
Eric - *Blank stare*
Me - "Anyway's, catch you's later, yo"

;D

I can imagine it now:

Boss: Yeah, what's wrong
Me: Well, you see, the pay is sheesh, I detest the customers, i'm sick of the bitching, I hate the fact that you're a stroppy, two-faced slave-driver, the prices are too high, the hours are too long, i've had more fun in a cemetry than working a shift here, the owner of the shop is a tight bastard, and i'm always forced to work hours I don't want to work. My daughters band has a show tonite in Akron, which is about 200 miles away. It's their first show that far away and they've got a few more lined up in the surrounding area in then next couple of months. I'm really excited for them.  8)

I hate feeling that way too, it seems like when I am like this...I end up bringing someone else down with my crappy attitude.  Oh well....I'll look on the bright side and hope that tomorrow will be a better day! ;)

I woke up around 6 this morning, but I didn't feel like getting up quite yet, so I fell back to sleep, and didn't get out of bed until about 8:30 or so. But later on this afternoon, around 3, a big wave of fatigue came over me so I took a nap on the couch. I guess I've had hardly any energy today. :-\\ Maybe that's good, considering I've not slept much during the nights.

Last time for me to post in this March thread ; I feel fine, I feel good, I'm off work in 5min with no plans tonight other than to go home, and get on the computer, which is what I do all day at work but I dont mind. Maybe watch tv, listen to music, talk to my wife and daughter a bit, but mostly just laze about and enjoy some down time. see you all later

probably no point in making stuff up, and surely a party of the magnitude of the one andrew was at, that requires one almost lose his pants twice shouldn't need any help.

When will this thread be locked and the April one started. who's gonna do it? the person who started it? huh?

I hope he does... I was about ready to do it myself.

In fact, since I'm here just about every day, I was wondering if I could volunteer to start the May thread. Or is someone else scheduled to do that one?? ???

Do you notice every month we go through this? I'm not on at 12:00 AM on the first of the month, and everyone wants to make it.

I'm on every day too, just not right at the break of dawn.. I'll make it when I get in.
