I am the 'proud' owner of a handful of James Last LP's...

(And they don't come much more 'mainstream' than him!)

If you've heard James Last's interpretation of 'True', you'll be shouting it from the rooftops, believe me!

It's contagious! But I find myself immune to it, somehow  ???

I don't really know which mainstream music I own. Not much, at a quick glance at my (pitiful) CD collection...  :-\\

I have his 1984 cassette of 'Leave the Best to Last', which was a collection of popular pop covers.  I quite liked his versions of 'Hooray Hooray, It's a Holi-Holiday' and 'The Wanderer'  :-[

I have the Fall Out Boy CD, but I'm going to use my 16-year-old-girlness as an excuse. It's actually really good. I just hope I don't regret liking them 2 years from now like with my Freshman year Good Charlotte obsession. :-[

Mostly just albums I inherited from my parents.. they used to belong to one of those "10 CDs for a buck" clubs back in the 90s and early 00s, and they'd order up every album they had one song they liked from. They also had great luck with radio giveaways, and won a ton of CDs (my mom actually won a limo ride to a concert, some time with Sting backstage, the CD, and an autographed Bass guitar) From their collection, I took:

1. Eminem's "The Eminem Show"
2. Seal's Self-Titled
3. Robbie Williams "The Ego Has Landed"
4. Sting's "Brand New Day"

All good albums. My parents also swear they have Gary Numan's "The Pleasure Principle" and Marcy Playground's Self-Titled, but I still haven't found them.

I also found out a while ago that I like The Killers, so a friend burned me their album.. don't know where he got it, though.

When they were popular, I bought 2 mainstream CD's ...

Welcome to the Monkey House - The Dandy Warhols
Permission to Land - The Darnkess

Both these CD's did well in our Canadian charts, which was very surprising.  Of course I bought these CD's before they became popular

A lot. I'm afraid I'm one of those folks listening to the songs you wish would leave the charts ;) (Okay, not all of them, but...)

I was supposed to go with her, but she backed out on letting me go at the last minute. She said Sting smelled really bad, but he was pretty cool. ;D

typical mainstream:

Dark side Of The Moon, The Wall...Pink Floyd

Seconds Out, The lamb Lies Down On Broadway..Genesis

Live At Budokan...Cheap Trick

Physical Graffitti and Led Zeppelin II

I don't know if it's mainstream but it is newer,

Franz Ferdinand (self Titled)

Warriors Code..Dropkick Murphys

Ohhhh, I forgot all about Franz Ferdinand. Yeah, they're mainstream.. I have both of their albums, my friend Meg burned them for me.

Personally, I thought the demos (I pirated them) were great for the self-titled, the arrangements on the self-titled sucked... and the new album is just homosexual.

Meh. Most of my music could be considered mainstream to some extent. Except for a few NZ artists and the like.

I only own a few albums right now, but I plan to start buying some more occasionally.

"Under My Skin"- Avril Lavigne
"X&Y"- Coldplay
"Out of Exile"- Audioslave
"Emancipation of Mimi"- Mariah Carey
"In Your Honor"- Foo Fighters
"Confessions"- Usher
"The Breakthrough"-Mary J. Blige
"8 Days of Christmas"- Destiny's Child
"Late Registration"- Kanye West

I also used to have Monster by REM which is like the first album I ever got, but I've lost it since along with a couple casette albums and other CDs.

"X & Y" had a few good tracks, but it's hard to get through a whole Coldplay album.

To me, this album sounds almost the same throughout.

DAK assures me, though, that it will increase with repeated listens.
