UK call them crisps, yes. If lying around on a plate, the air gets to them and the taste disappears.

I was actually referring to potato crisps - I know that's what they are technically called, but you know, most American's don't know the difference  ;).

Chips are the fat ones you get with your fish'n'chips, and fries are the thin one's you get in your Macca's happy meal.  :)

My theory is that 'leftovers' only taste better because you eat them first thing in the morning (well at least I do) when you're starving, and everything tastes sooo much better when you're really hungry. Anyone?

...When you're listening to music and studying (or doing anything that requires concentration) at the same time, it's always easier to concrete when you crank up the volume than if at it's at a medium (though not soft) level. Cos you don't have to use effort and concentrate to strain to hear the music. Well, that's what I find, anyway.

There seemed to be alot of British-made 'toy animation' childrens shows (with attendant monologue voice overs) - Fireman Sam, Postman Pat, Thomas the Tank Engine, Noddy...well I guess it's still the same today. Are these shows big in the States? Anyone know?

Yep, Britain did do a lot of that kind of stuff. I would be very surprised (apart from Noddy) if any of that stuff got any international airplay - though admittedly, I'm surprised you get it down under.

Nope. Rather bland adventures of a postman plodding about doing stuff for people.

He's dead helpful.  But they've introduced a few new characters since you saw it last.  His son Julian, Ajay, the train driver and his daughter adn maybe another (a dog perhaps?)

I took James to see Postman Pat in the theatre last year

Interesting, he's got a son but no wife? OMG!!! Don't tell me they are spicing it up with the 'one parent family' angle?  ;D

I wasn't aware they were still producing new eps of Noddy, but good to hear, anyway! I hope your son loved P.P. as much as we did when we were his age (how old is he, btw?).

^ Yeah, along with the American stuff those programmes were aired down here and well-loved. I'm sure most people my age who grew up here (and younger) remember them well.

I thought his wife was always in it, that's why I didn't mention her.

I wqas talking about Postman Pat but there are two versions of Noddy on at the moment.  The BBC version follows the Enid Blyton books quite closely (theme tune Noddy (Noddy) Little man in the red and yellow car and the new Channel 5 version Make way for Noddy which has introduced some new characters and is much livelier.

We get Noddy and Pingu on satellite.  They're not popular here.  We also get this show called Saddle Club that takes place in Australia, I think.  Do you get this in Australia?

Some others that may be foreign.....Jakers! and 64 Zoo Lane
