Subject: Top 500 Greatest Songs, from Blender (I know, they reek gym socks)

Written By: woops on 06/26/06 at 2:08 pm

We all remember they're "50 Worst Songs" list, I just found their 500 favorites...

And like their previous list, I wouldn't call it the greatest song of all time and NO Debbie Gibson  >:( (Though she wasn't on their worst list either  :D )

Wow!  Billie Jean is the #1 song?  Who compiled this list .. MJ himself? :D

Of all the top ten, only #4 (U2's "One") is any good at all..

I should be compiling these lists, not Blender. :D

Britney Spears

...I mean, do I really wanna know what's in the rest of their list?

That song is actually quite likeable.  I know my garbage bag sure loved it ;D

Not Angles, Bo Rhap or Stairway to Heaven?

I know 7 of 'em (and 4 of those I'd rather not know!)

'Teen Spirit', 'Child' and 'Love Will Tear Us Apart' are tedious beyond the point of pain, IMHO...

Why do people argue and get pissy over a subjective list?  Did they bill it as the "definitive" or "ultimate" list?

How was this list compiled?

How was this list compiled?

I'm guessing the same way a lot of these lists are compiled; using chart positions, radio spins, album/single sales, longevity, maybe even how many times the videos were played on TV.....stuff like that.

PURELY FREAKIN' SUBJECTIVE.

I don't know, maybe because the album the song is on is the highest-selling album of all time.

Doesn't that accolade belong to The Eagles' Greatest Hits like it did not so long ago? Am I that far behind the times?

Thriller is the world's best selling album of all-time.  The Eagles - Greatest Hits (1971-1975) is the best selling album in the United States

Umm...it was not. It was compiled based on somebody's opinion. There's no way OutKast's "B.O.B" would reach it based on that.

I think that any list that puts Nelly, t.A.T.u, Bright Eyes, and the Game above the Pixies' "Gigantic", Madonna's "Papa Don't Preach", the Replacements, and the Meat Puppets' "Lake of Fire" is blasphemous.

How many people do you think have heard of the "The Meat Puppets"?  I haven't.  That sounds like a porn movie.

They're really great...they're like a country-rock band that influenced Nirvana heavily.

They also repeat the same asinine descriptions over and over again...everything is "eerie synth pop" or "irresistable dance beat." And Robyn above "Black Hole Sun."

Thank you, Jas. I'm surprised I even listen to US Chart statistics these days, never mind take them into account..!

I apologize for my error, Sister Morphine. I wasn't aware that I only took my figures from only those which happened in the States.

No.
