Subject: More end of the world weather AND other signs..

Written By: KKay on 07/13/06 at 8:25 am

So, normally we don't have tornados in NY, but yesterday there was one tearing through Sleepy Hollow (noththesize of anything you get in the mid west, but still...) and this summer we have had several tornado warnings and we've seen water spouts outside our window here.

In addition, I live near swamp and grass and woods and this summer something that's obviously missing is crickets.  No crickets, frogs or cicadas singing at night.

So we already know mother nature is pissed off....
has she tried to get revenge in your neck of the woods?

Here in colorado, the winter was pretty much warm and sunny -- I don't know if I ever wore my winter coat.  The summer's been very hot and dry -- until last week when we had several days of rain which washed out roads & people's crops 'n stuff.  Then there was the several inches of hail a few weeks ago -- but that in itself tends to happen every year.

But no crickets in your neck o' the woods?  That's very odd .

Wow, that's got to be creepy, not hearing those critters.

My sister teaches at Curtis H.S., and she was looking out the window the other day and saw a water spout...she kinda freaked out.

We've been having really mild winters for the last few years.  I remember back in 2000 during the month of December we has 75 degree weather.  And in 2004 we had 70 degree weather in Januaury.

This summer we've had some erally terrible storms, flash floods, and hail.

NY State often gets hit with tornados. Here are some stats from tornados that has hit the state from 1950-1995. But they seem to be increasing in frequency.

Rain... nothing but rain.  June and May were the rainest two months in recorded history for Massachusetts, and it's rained for most of July too.. maybe 5 or 6 days this month without a spot of rain, thunder showers or regular rain storms the rest.  The road I lived on washed out last October, and was considered some of the worst flooding in 50 years.

I'm actually concerned.

I've been noticing these things for the past few years.

Hotter and hotter summers... BUT!

This winter in St. Louis, I wore a coat for about 5 weeks. That was it.

For those of you who don't understand the significance of that, St. Louis winters are supposed to be NASTY!

We had the same experience... I know for a fact that I only wore my winter coat once the entire year, and even then I felt too hot in it. I live in Winnipeg, Man., Canada and it's supposed to be blisteringly cold in the winter... I'm sure this year was the warmest winter I can remember. We also had the warmest spring here on record, and I'm still waiting to see if we'll have a repeat of last year's violent storms (winds that uprooted trees and downed power-lines).

Dr. Peter Venkman: This city is headed for a disaster of biblical proportions.
Mayor: What do you mean, "biblical"?
Dr Ray Stantz: What he means is Old Testament, Mr. Mayor, real wrath-of-God type stuff.
Dr. Peter Venkman: Exactly.
Dr Ray Stantz: Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies. Rivers and seas boiling.
Dr. Egon Spengler: Forty years of darkness. Earthquakes, volcanoes...
Winston Zeddemore: The dead rising from the grave.
Dr. Peter Venkman: Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together - mass hysteria.

Oklahoma weather is always unpredictable.  Supposed 2 have an "extreme heat" warning the whole weekend.  Which probably means it will rain.  ;)

London is set to experience some of the hottest temperatures ever recorded there.

More Tsunami.

Fast moving, boiling clouds.. raining blood, from a lacerated sky.

Run fast for the hills because the end is surely nigh.

How that sentence raises a wry smile from me just over a year on!  ;)

(In actual fact, the weathermen-that-be said the very same thing in January this year...

...they also claimed that last winter was going to be of 'Ice-Age' proportions!)

It was in April or March this year I walked home from work with my jacket off, just like as it was a summer's day.

Yes, it was a cracking Easter (mid-April) with temperatures well into the 70s...

Funnily enough, hotter than it actually is right now in late-August!
