Subject: Feel Any Way, News of Any Form- August

Written By: Apricot on 08/01/06 at 9:24 pm

The reason I was gone last night (the church's 30-Hour Famine) was okay.. I really didn't get that hungry. As part of the thing, we had to not only eat, but we did yard work and crap for other people.. I was put on removing pegboards and putting in insulation... I somehow established middle management.. and it turned into a bureaucracy. Don't ask me how.. but it did.. in 3 hours.

After it was over, we went to McDonalds, and I'm pretty sure I'm generally well-liked by my co-workers, cause everyone talks to me and stuff, even when I'm off-shift. It's cool.

Glad to be home.

I had an absolutely horrific driving lesson yesterday. This woman let another student pull out of my driveway (apparently she was still on another lesson), and he promptly hit the giant rock at the bottom of it, and it dented his car. And then, we went to the nightmarish DMV, dropped off this kid in a town about half an hour driving distance away from where I live, and, talking on her cell phone and speaking no English, forced me to drive sixty miles an hour on major highways. I'm traumatized and we're switching to another driving school...there is absolutely no fudging way I am supposed to drive on the Garden State Parkway, an interstate highway, on my first driving lesson.

Heh, August. Damn month.

I have a lot of things going through my mind tonight. I'm not exactly in a very good mood. I'm hoping I start to feel at least somewhat better soon.

However, on a lighter note (!!!!), today was actually fun. My co-worker and I played baseball in the store. We broke so much crap, it was amazing. He won, so obviously I started hitting him with the little plastic bat. Mid-hit, a customer comes into the store and gives us a very strange look. We freeze, bat still in the air, and say in unison "Hello, How are you today?!" with the biggest smiles we could muster.

There are days, such as this, when I absolutely love my job.

Good God, it sounds like like an eventful first driving lesson. Hope the experience didn't traumatize you too much.

When I was learning to drive my old man had me drive to Nottingham.. a town about 30 some miles away up the Motorway.

His reasoning was that if I could do that first time I'd be fine.

I was, it was easy.

You'll get used to driving on the highway soon.

I'm an awful driver but much prefer driving on the highway because I have so much space around me and can keep a pretty much constant speed. It's E-A-S-Y!

Today.. you really disapoint me.

Today I'm fairly annoyed. I was looking forward to seeing some of my friends before I leave.. well, I called around, half of them are currently on holiday. (Goddam last minute deals!) and others are working, have commitments etc. Still.. I'll see a few of them tomorrow at some point for a last pint.
This is what happens when you refuse to plan ahead.  ;D

Me too. I feel really sick, tired.. I can't freaking get up before noon, no matter how early I go to bed.

I'm taking off piano today.. this sucks, if I don't get better, cause I'm working 4-11 tomorrow.

Congested.. well.. in a way.

I don't really suffer from hay-fever, but.. the one thing that does get me is the dust from dry hay.

So, today..

I went to see to the horse this morning and lo & behold she had ripped the lid off of her hay storage box thingy. So I'm standing there trying to fix this thing and sneezing every minute, she's spagging out because she has no idea why i'm making so much noise, I hit my hand with the hammer, I got seriously mad and started yelling and cursing a streak and then looked over the stable door to see some kid.. I would guess about 6 or 7 standing there watching me.

Funny moment.

Anyway, I took some pirotin (however you spell it - Hayfever stuff) and it seems to have worked, I just sounded like John Major for a while.  ;D

That often happens on summer vacation. Maybe you need to start drinking juice. Or tea. Both help me with the perennial lethargy I experience without requisite stimuli.

Eat more vegetables and carbohydrates. Works for me. And lots of hot liquids.

I went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art today. It was interesting...there was a Mayan ancient artifacts show, a tradition/transgression British Fashion show (showed how modern designers like Manolo Blahnik, Malcolm McLaren, and Vivienne Westwood played on old British archetypes like the fox hunt), a Girodet (a romantic painter from the early 19th century) show, and a Raphael altarpiece. Here's some pics:

Girodet Show-

My two favorites from the show.

Raphael altarpiece-

I have to get in more to the city's museums, there are some great shows coming up this fall and winter.

I see. :)

We went to the one out here in Ventura County for the first (and only) time in 2003, just to see what it was like. We might go to it again some other time, probably not this year, though.  During the 90's we went to the one out in Orange County with my mom's cousin (who had been living in Tustin with his family at the time). And I think we went to the one in L.A. County (Pomona) in 1989.

Today was.. hilarious.

At work, we had a meeting to talk about protocol.. they gave everyone but me, this girl I don't know, and Fantastic Steve off, but they had to go to the meeting.. we had to work, so we'll make up the meeting at some other time. But everyone who was allowed at the meeting got a free meal.. and Fantastic Steve and I don't because we weren't there.. cause they wouldn't let us! ;D

It sucked, making meals for 20 people all at once and not getting a free one.. but it was dead slow after that, so they let me out 2 hours early.

So you have to get the house back in order, get all the girls out, restock the liquor cabinet, etc. etc.  ;)

In the serious sense, I do not need to do any of that...for I have had nobody over. I've kept the place tidy as can be. :) ;D

I just need to log off and prepare myself for when they officially get home; that is, pull into the driveway.

We had a continuous rush, with 15 minute interims every 90 minutes. It was just me and Fantastic Steve (Who doesn't know how to make sandwiches well yet, so I taught him, but he's still slow) and Cool Seth.. but they kept sending Cool Seth (who knows more then any of us, having worked 16 times longer then us) to do stuff.. the store was understocked and we got a ton of business. It was tiring. I stayed late.. but I got a free milkshake and overtime pay out of it.

Also, today was my first pay day. Not bad at all.

sorry to hear that, but it is most likely more a communication problem than anything else. you guys speak 2 different languages, they don't understand you very well, and you may not understand them so well either. I got a 17 year old and I know that I eff up all the time with my big mouth saying things that make her feel untrusted, incapable and other feelings that aren't pleasant and I know it's mostly me not knowing what else to say so I say the wrong thing which is what your parents are doing. it'll get better as you get older. hang in there  8)

That's horrible. Well, some people are just born to the wrong parents. There was this incredibly profound passage in a book that I read, saying that if you aren't born to the right parents, than you spend your life looking for them. Well, probably you'll know better than to do that to your own kids, anyway. I've gotten in some fairly big fights with my parents over time, since they're irrevocably screwed up in their own way. Eventually, you'll grow up and move out and realize not to repeat their mistakes, and sort of accept how sh*tty your parents could be, as part of maturation, I suppose.

As for me...my dad's friend finished a book that he helped to edit, so we went to her sister's brownstone in Park Slope/North Flatbush for a five hour garden party, which I was invited to. I got a little drunk and gregarious and I ended up talking for hours with these two gay guys in their 30s and 40s, one of whom designs Aretha Franklin's costumes, about actresses and singers and The Golden Girls and all these wonderful things gay men bond over. My dad's friend knew about alot of '80s music that I like (Elvis Costello, The Smiths, etc.) being born in 1969, so we talked about that and literature for awhile. The owners of the brownstone had an original watercloset from the 1880s, and an antique 1920-1950ish tie collection that included the tie Cary Grant wore in North by Northwest. These people gave us a ride back to Port Authority, which we missed the closing of by two minutes.

Mine start the 23rd.  Which brings me to the stupid school district.....first off, they are switching my kids from a school that's about 5 minutes away to one that's about 20....second, they won't give me ANY information about bus schedules (even though they HAVE them).....third, they won't give me any information about classrooms or even verify if my youngest is in morning or afternoon kindergarten (I've heard he's in afternoon, but they won't verify that >:()  So, I get to go to the school and argue with them in person ::)

The public schools in Chicago started after Labor Day, but the private schools started the 2nd week of August.  The upside to that was we got to get out of school before they did.  I don't really see what the big deal is about school starting before/after Labor Day.

Howard- Trust me, cooking is essential to bachelorhood survival!

Learn also the following: Fried rice (trust me on this- coupled with Top Ramen, it works wonders!)

Lasagna (this helps if you like Italian food)

Spaghetti squash (if used in place of pasta, it it AWESOME- you can eat as much as ya want, & not be bloated afterward- also helps cut down on "butt trumpet" action; I'm sure Robin will appreciate this)

Grilled chicken breast (or baked, if you have no access to a grill- either way, it's healthy, and versatile)

At least one breaded recipe (My 1st one was breaded catfish, but any will do)

You can't go wrong...unless you are one of those who burns water!
In that case, I suggest you frequent some restaurants with magnets indicating the delivery number.
Men have reputed these things to have saved their lives!

At least one breaded recipe (My 1st one was breaded catfish, but any will do)

You can't go wrong...unless you are one of those who burns water!
In that case, I suggest you frequent some restaurants with magnets indicating the delivery number.
Men have reputed these things to have saved their lives!

First the easy foods and maybe one day when Robin and I live together in a couple of years if that happens,We will cook once in a while but not all the time. :)

After me and my sister got older, we started cooking for ourselves. I don't much of what I cooked while I was there.

I need to go to school and get out of this town. My home is like a circus, and I can't handle it anymore.

An adventure away from home will give me peace. That makes sense, right?

Beth, you almost always make sense. It ain't easy trying to discover who we are & what we're capable of doing if given the chance. I hope you figure it out.  8)

It might, it might not. It might get rid of some problems, but it might introduce a whole gauntlet of new problems to tackle. Not saying you shouldn't do it...I think you should go for it, if that's what you think best.

Do 10 laps round the blocks, or no inthe00s for a week!

...that's what I would say, if I were your personal 'Gillian or Bob'... ;D

Not suggesting you're in the same category as the people on that show, but you know, a tough as nails personal trainer is something most people don't always appreciate...

It sucks, I used to be so good.  I maintain the same weight for years, and even after I had my children I got back down quickly.  After my mother died I started to gain weight, slowly but here recently I've gotten out of control.  I'd like to drop about 20 pounds (maybe more).  Now if I could walk on the treadmill and post here at the same time I think I could do it.  LOL!!

I'll try to help motivate you...I don't know how good I'll be.
