Subject: Curtain Calls

Written By: CatwomanofV on 08/02/06 at 4:40 pm

I was reading on another thread about some of our members stage performances and thought it would be a good idea for a new thread (since they were going WAY off the topic of the other thread  ;) )

So, what performances have you been in?

For me:

Li'l Abner-secretary to Gen. Bullmoose
Bye Bye Birdie-a teeny bopper
The Enigma-the title character  :D ;D ;D
The Emperor's New Robes (a Japanese version of The Emperor's New Clothes)-the Empress
Aladdin-Aladdin's mother

Backstage work:

Chapter Two
Company
Mary, Mary
The Shadow Box

(Those were Summer Stock-professional theatre)

Plus several dance performances.

Who's next?

Let's see if I remember them all:

MacBeth- Prince Malcolm
The Prince's Royal Manners- Bad Grammar Muse
The Bible Tells Me So Show (Christian Camp)- Game Show Host Richard Awesome
A Menagerie Of Shakespeare- Iago/Mercurio/MacBeth/Drunken Porter
42nd Street- Abner Dillon
Joseph & The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat- Jacob/Dan
Finian's Rainbow- Finian McLonergan
Twelve Angry Men- Juror 4
Grease- Roger, or "Rump"
Play It Again, Sam- Allan Felix

Am working off-&-on on completing my own one-man show, called "Strange Logic: A One-Man Show For Wheelchairs".

I've only been in one major dance production when I was 9 years old. I was in choir in the 6th grade and did a major performance with them. That's about it for me. I don't feel I have a lot of confidence of being an onstage performer  ;D

You reminded me that I forgot to mention chorus/choir I used to be in in High School.

In H.S., the Performance Show Choir I was in was called "Skyfire".

This was a group who, in 1989, was ranked 2nd in the US (just behind BYU's Chpoir), and 5th in the world, @ the Internat'l Choir competition, in Vienna).

We'd put on 2-3 productions a yr., and in the summer, we'd be invited to perform @ different places around the world.
During my time with them, I went to Montreux, Switzerland; Paris; Orlando, Fl.; and Nassau, the Bahamas.

This was also when I did most of my Broadway productions.

well....when I was in elementary school:

Pocahontas
Raggedy Ann
A Christmas Elf
I was also very involved in the choir

Jr. High/High School

I was involved in children's community theater

I was Bruin the bear in Raggedy Ann & Andy
I was Verda the announcer of Oz in Christmas in the land of Oz
I was the March Hare in Alice & Wonderland

I was in the senior/select choir in highschool
also...I was in the singing ensemble...for 2 years in high school. We traveled around and performed for different events (including the half-time show at a Pitt football game).

I was Mrs. Peterson in the play Bye Bye Birdie
I was a fairy in a NFL (national forensic league) competition play called, "All the World's A Stage"

I've been in numerous church plays (too many to list)

and I've done stage crew/props for many plays.

In high school I played flute in the pit orchestra for:

Man of LaMancha
Camelot
Three "Sings" (Student written musicals)

In community theater I played flute or keyboards for:

Jesus Christ Superstar
Pippin
Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum
Three Penny Opera

And I acted in:

Godspell
Runaways
Tommy (chorus)
I am a Camera (Natalia)

And I was assistant musical director and
rehearsal pianist for a children's theater production of:

The Mikado

And that's all I can think of right now -- it might be a very complete list.

I've never been in a play, as far as I can remember, aside from the ones our classed performed at school assemblies. But no, I never had the knack for drama or acting.

A lamb in a grade school Christmas play, and some stuff for my high school drama class, and a drama class I took when I was yonger.

Pretty much the extent of my acting career.

;D

In my younger days, I always wanted to play:

Hodel in Fiddler on the Roof
The Girl in The Fantasticks
John Adams in 1776  :D  It is true. I always wanted to play that part but I guess I was just wrong for the part. I can't imagine why?  :D ;D ;D

Now? Hmmm, haven't given it much thought since my days in the theatre are limited to be in the house.
