Subject: Britons online '50 days a year'
Written By: Philip Eno on 08/08/06 at 12:53 am
From the BBC News Online
Britain's 10 million broadband users spend an average of 23.5 hours online each week, equivalent to 50 days of the year, a survey suggests.
Service comparison firm USwitch.com said the survey of 15,323 people revealed that 87% shopped online and 78% did their banking via the web.
However, recent research from regulator Ofcom indicated that broadband users spent just 12 hours online a week.
It said just 12% of users spend more than 25 hours a week online.
The Ofcom research was based on interviews held with adults across the UK while USwitch.com's findings come from an online poll by YouGov, which may favour regular broadband users.
They never asked me!

I spend more time online than I do watching TV. Probably close to 20 hours a week. :o

Even it I do 4 hours a day, that would make 28 hours per week.

Only 50? :o
Is this supposed to be the average time spent by the average person?
Cos 50 days a day sounds like a lot for most ppl...does it include using it for work.etc?
50/365 = 13.7% of the time. 0.137 x 24 = 3.29. An average of 3.29 hours a day, or 23.0 hours a week? That sounds a bit high by my reckoning. Even I don't spend that much, excep t on holidays when I might average close to 8-9-10+ hours a day...

You did the year as 52 weeks which is 364 days, not the complete year of 365 days. So 365 x 4 = 1460.
