Scientists say they have identified a gene that will allow rice plants to survive being completely submerged in water for up to two weeks.

that's good news, but I've never noticed a shortage of rice  ???

I guess they will genetically modify it and use it for other things...............................

it'll be good for those farmers that can get this genetically improved rice, and save them $$$

For about half the world's population, rice is the staple diet... :o And though there is a sh*tload of it, that often isn't enough...the frequent floods don't always help (it seems to be always the case with rain - either there's not enough of it, or too much).
