Mm-hmm. Among the threads I'll NEVER post in include "Name the song you're currently listening to", because it is a true duplicate thread. If I'm listening to a song and don't care about what decade it's from, I'll use "What song are you listening to right now?" (the one with "208" in its URL)

I probably will be smacked with a mackerel for this...

See Jeff... it's exactly this ambiguous, if not hypocrytical attitude that keeps me from congratulating.

You don't "waste" your posts on a "pointless" thread to raise your post count (as you've said time and again...), but posting one word at a time on PBG is completely legit in your eyes. Did you know your posts make up almost 20% of the total in that section?

And btw: what is the point of this thread? Exactly: its sole purpose was to raise your post count to 70,000.

Whatever. Yes, my tally was at 69999 right before I made this thread...but this thread was simply an announcement that my tally has hit a milestone. Whats wrong with that?

So what if my posts in the PBG's account for 20% of the total posts for that section? I enjoy playing them and in most cases it requires me to think; iow, gives my brain some exercise. Please don't make it sound like it's a bad thing.

Posting in the LTE requires the same amount of brain function as posting in the PBG.  But don't let that get in the way of anything.

It's pointless.....but pointless can be fun.  That's a fun thread where we goof around with the thread title and muse about whether certain posters who never come back....will come back.  It serves no real purpose other than that, but you post in it anyway.  In fact, you started it.

Did I now? Bad, bad me!

As far as I'm concerned you can wreck your brains as much as you like in the PBG, but I think it's a cheap way to hit a milestone. And there are other ways to excercise your brain, even on this board. I'm sure you, being the educated guy that you are, will agree on this. In other words: I don't see much cause for celebrations.

It could be said that most of the posts on the board are pointless.  The fact is, we all just come here to have a little fun - that's the point.  And one person's fun isn't necessarily the same as another's.  I think it's great that nally reached 70,000 posts.  Not to mention the fact that he is one of the nicest, most genuine people on the site.  What I don't see the point of is coming over to this thread just to be mean.  Why would you do that?

Right again.

70,000 is an impressive number, no argument there, but it would have been noticed without this thread.

Not to mention the fact that he is one of the nicest, most genuine people on the site.

A fact or a matter of opinion...? Not everyone will agree with you.

What I don't see the point of is coming over to this thread just to be mean.  Why would you do that?

I didn't come here just to be mean. I would have congratulated Jeff on his 70,000 posts if he hadn't mentioned the "pointless thread"-thing again. "Of course * I *  don't post in pointless threads to raise my postcount - I'm far more educated than that. ::)" If there's one thing I can't stand it's arrogance. It brings out the bad in me.

But you're right - no use in making matters worse. I've said my thing and hopefully made my point.

And all of those threads are equally pointless, but that wasn't my point. You're the one claiming not to post in pointless threads to raise your post count, I'm saying that you do (and just did by creating this darn thread) - that's my point.

But since we'll never agree on the matter I suggest we call a truce before things get really silly or nasty.

Okay, I have posted some pointless things now and then...but I don't like certain threads whose titles don't say what the thread is about. Maybe I shoulda been more specific.
